Hello everyone! I have a question. I have this
Foxconn A690GM2MA

AMD Athlon 64 x2, 2400 MHz 4600+

1GB DDR2 RAM @ 800 MHz (i don't know the model of it)

Radeon X1300/X1550 Series (512 mb vram)

and some psu (not sure about model) but it does the job.

So my question is should i upgrade this to a 8 or so gb of ram and a better video card (wanting your opinion for a good price to performance GPU) with a budget of about $150 for it.

Or my second option is to just sell this for as much as i can possibly get and add some more money and build a mid spec gaming pc (keeping in mind that i have all the needed peripherals and a box so all i really nead is the general components).

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning.

well you got ddr2 so you need to upgrade your motherboard before upgrading ram so also the cpu and well gpu the intel intergrated graphics is even better than that

@Tygara_19 you should get everything new. If you purchased more then there would probably be a bottleneck which will reduce performance.

CPU: Intel i7-4790K @ 4.7GHz --- RAM: Lenovo 1600MHz 16GB --- MOBO: Gigabyte Z97-G7 --- GPU: EVGA GTX 970 FTW ACX 2.0+--- PSU: Corsair CX600 --- Case: Corsair Air 540 --- Cooler: NZXT Kraken X61 --- OS: Windows 8.1 --- Monitor: 24" AOC G2460P + Dell 19" --- Mouse: Logitech MX Perfromance --- Keyboard: Corsair K70 (Cherry MX Brown) --- Audio: Sennheiser HD558

Don't buy a GTX 980, it's overpriced! Buy 2 GTX 970s or 2 R9 290s intstead (the R9 290s would even be cheaper)

Sell your current stuff wouldn't be worth an upgrade.

the hardware you have might be good for a 1080p media center, or a small home server.

BUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD dont bother with upgrading it.

sidenote: that hardware isnt worth a whole lot these days, because (from my limited benchmarking) that thing has comparable power to a raspberry pi.

Oke so i guess im going to collect some money and just build a high-end PC and not worry about it for a good couple of years. Thanks to all for your advice.

You don't need a high end PC to last you a few years. An i5 with 16GB RAM, a Z97 motherboard and GTX 970 will last you quite a few years. And that is no where near high end.

Pick a price point over ~$750 (For just the tower, no software or peripherals.), and build a system with that and you will be set for a while.

Fine you want the PSU tier list? Have the PSU tier list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40-rev-103/
