MSi Nightblade Radiator MOD

Well howdy there!

New member here, and i just wanted to show you guys something i did for my first ever build.

It's really just a very small mod at best, but i think it looks really cool. :P So here's the thing:

I've been wanting to put together a small form factor gaming pc because i used to game on my laptop, and honestly, that thing could barely manage Fallout 3 on low settings. So yeah, time for an upgrade.

I got a really good deal on an MSI Nightblade Gaming Barebone, and instantly fell in love with the thing. It only cost me about 200 euro's, and i would get a case, a PSU and a MOBO!

Eventually the thing arrived, and it looked marvelous!

So i went out and started buying internals. Soon, i had everything except proper CPU cooling. I really wanted to go watercooled on this thing, tough it would prove pretty challenging to get a watercooling system in such a small space. Especially with RAM and GPU and all that stuff in there, there was just never enough space for the radiator to fit, let alone with a fan!

Dispite all that, i got me a Corsair H60 All in One watercooling loop.

First i thought i could put the radiator on the exhaust fan of my case.

Needless to say, this wasn't going to work.

I didn't want to return the H60 and settle for an air cooled solution. Honestly, i just got the watercooling loop! I wanted to use the damn thing!

The only place where i could get the radiator without compromising other internals was outside of the case. With only the pump and the fan my little Nightblade would already be crammed full. So i got my angle grinder and got to work. (In hindsight i probably should've used a dremel, but meh. This worked!)

After a few minutes of painfull grinding in my brand new case, the side panel looked a little something like this:

Now i could place the fan on the inside of the panel.

Looks pretty cool, huh?

And now the radiator would be outside of the case!

And now for the final fit:

.

All in all, i think the result is pretty damn cool! It isn't really much, but it's a subtle little mod that makes it look quite racey, if that makes any sense.

Hope you enjoyed my first modding story! There's probably much more where this came from :P

Looks awesome although fins will get damaged during any kinds of transport or something :/

true this. i'm looking to maybe put some kind of mesh/wire/grid protection thing over it. tough i can't really seem to find anyhting online.

guess i'll have to make it myself sometime.

i'm not really going to haul it around a lot tough. it's pretty much permanently placed on my desk. excpet for maybe a LAN party sometime.
