Eh, he's climbed his way to the place he's at now. Am I jealous, no, not really. The amount of work he does (balancing family, work (managing Taran :P) reflects what he gets, good on him :). If I can get a job like his, great, but jealous I am not. Inspired, yes.

Yes, when he calls up Nvidia and get's like 6 titan blacks, when he get's those sexy monitors, when he calls up sandisk and gets 24 ssd's and when he get's 8 core cpu's. He can get pretty much anything he want's, you would be lying if you are into computer's and aren't jealous unless your rich.

Don't get me wrong, i find him awesome but i know what its like to have your own business and even though i haven't gotten to the point where i have hired staff knowing that you have to support i think half a dozen staff members on top of yourself and you family, then take out loans for a new building, let alone problary taken out loans for their current location, they don't get to keep what they review... i bet you things like that backpack don't happen every day.

 

I know he loves doing what he does. That is what keeps small business'es going. I love doing what i do and he does to. But there are dark times too. I bet we don't see his dark times. How much time does he really get to spend with his family? can he go on holiday without people asking him to meet up? can he without answering emails and phone calls?

I'm jealous that they have all that hardware and lots of it is just piled up in random places around the office, not even neatly put away.

all of the freaking hardware but that stress, linus is going to have grey hair by time he is 35-43

i wouldnt say i get jelly, but i do envy him. its not your usual product rep job that he has, hes 1 in a million. 

Space Journal #1: So Apparently i  was dropped on the moon like i'm a mars rover, in a matter of hours i have found the transformers on the dark side of the moon. Turns out its not that dark since dem robots are filled with lights, i waved hi to the Russians on the space station, turns out all those stories about space finding humans instead of the other way around is true(soviet Russia joke). They threw me some Heineken beer and I've been sitting staring at the people of this forum and earth since.

I can see why they can irritate us a bit from time to time, but I honestly think this comes from them being actually very honest about things: LMG job is basically to review (and sometimes a direct but nevertheless an indirect consequent of reviews) and promote products, means that they will always be over exposed to them and yes that means it can desensitize you to the actual value of all that tech and such: remember that for every product they do get to test or sponsor a built they have tons of others that request or offer a review, kinda like how both Barnacules and Jay both say they eventually get flooded with offers to review endless iterations of shitty battery packs and such. 

 

Or to give you an analogy: even a healthy, heterosexual male will eventually get bored and inoculated from nudity if his job was to photograph and/or shoot porn every day.

I was only jealous of Linus once in all the time I have internet/know him.  Not when he talked about 4k gsync displays raining from the sky and thousand dollar gpus insta materializing inside his rigs.  No, it came when I saw that he got one of these:
