Except I'm going to upgrade from a GeForce 210 to a GTX 750 probably, unless there will be a better low-profile card released.

Look for a 750ti, or a 2GB 650ti. Both cards have very similar performance and both have versions that only need to use the PCIe slot for power.

zero reason to sell your 290s for 970s. just wait for the r9 390/x or 980ti / 980metal

even 2x 980s isn't really worth it. just wait for the next biggest thing. guarantee 2x 390/390x's will be a better price:performance option

that being said i'd kill for vapor-x 290s because my xfx 290 doesn't match my build considering it's all black/blue (the black of the xfx dd 290 is nice, just love the blue on the vapor-x cards)

can't really beat 210$ for a xfx r9 290 though lol.

I'm hoping to do a great number of things, because as of now my PC isn't all that good.  In order of priority:

(sorry for this terrible formatting)

get an ssd (actually I think I'm getting one fairly soon)

Get a define r5

get a new mobo/LGA 1150 mobo

get an i5 or even an i7 maybe

get a dark rock pro (mmm sexy black)

get strix 970

get a better psu/more wattage

get more case fans

get a real 1080p monitor(s)

My life is consumed by CS:GO, even though I'm not exceptionally good at it.

In order of priority: GTX 970 Strix, 2 good 1080p monitors, i5 4690k, MSI Z97 Gaming 5 LGA 1150, a job

your psu is more than enough for an i5/i7 & 970.

Reducing heat and reducing power consumption even with 970's im going from 245w tdp per card to 145w tdp, thats a big difference, and a 980 is still a reduction which would give me even better preformance than what i have now, plus i prefer Nvidias companion software to amd's, and im selling both for 400 USD or one for 200USD

tdp is not power draw

and the 970s are not as power efficient as people think, because of the whole "tdp = power draw" idea people get. amd actually overstated their tdp too. their power draw isn't as high as a lot of people assume. you can run a 4790k & dual 290's on a 750w. my 290 (with an average cooler) has never broken 81c, even oc'd to 1150/1500 @ +25mV/+25mV.

you have zero reason to get two 550$ cards in replacement of your current two is my point. maybe 970s but that's a sidegrade and would only be 'good' for the software nvidia offers

otherwise... not worth. i'd buy your 290s purely for cosmetic reasons but i'm just waiting for the 300 series myself as i wouldn't be getting much out of it (sell my 290 and get 2 more that match? no point :x )
