is a i5 4460 basically comparable to the fx8350 just different as one has more threads than the other

No the I5 will give you much better performance in games. FX8350 is more comparable to an I3.

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

I3 4150, Intel HD graphics, corsair CX750M, 4gb ram, Asus H81M-E, corsair 230T, Intel stock cooler WD Green 2TB Gigabyte 550TI

You can compare them, but it wouldn't be a good comparison.

For gaming, the i5 is much better while in editing the FX chip might be better because for editing.. Really, moar cores = moar better.

While that is usually the case, the 8350 is being outperformed by the i5 in EVERYTHING.

Let's not fancy it too hard, there are a lot of cases where the 8350 is plainly better

Yeah well, i owned an 8350 so i'd know. Give me proof in which the 8350 outperforms the i5 4460 at least semi-significantly.

Where to start.

Rendering in professional grade programs

Streaming game play while recording that gameplay

Hosting servers while gaming

Basically any heavy multitasking, as listed above as well as rendering in programs that have been written with at least some fluency and use more than two cores.

For someone like me the 9590 was more what I required when it came time to upgrade. It was only because of a raise and a sale that I was able to get the 4790k that I have now. For those of us out there who do heavy multitasking, and I mean heavy the more cores is far day better

AMD FX-8350 @ Stock: 8,981 Winner

Intel I5 4460 @ Stock:    6,682

As reported by: Cpu.benchmark.com

The 8350 is approximately 43% faster when calculating floating point integers when run in their Multicore mixed speed test. "A multi-core server orientated integer and floating point CPU benchmark test."

The proof is in the puddin'. The 8350 still kicks ass When it is able to use all of its cores, much like in rendering.

It's been a long time since I've had to put that much effort into proving that I still know what im talking about. Last time that happened was when someone proclaimed that AMD had no gpu competition against nvidia. Let's just say, me and plenty of others had some, words, with them.
