MSI's new GTX 970 has popped up on PCCG and it looks... Cheap.

This is not a new card. It has been sold ever since last year.

I DO agree that it is cheap, though. It has power delivery issues, as seen in this review: http://www.geeks3d.com/20141209/msi-geforce-gtx-970-4gd5t-oc-review/

I think that most card manufacturers went with the cheaper path when making their GTX 970's, I've had a couple of replacement G1 Gaming with the same problem.

There's nothing wrong with this. Nvidia made the cards low powered enough that a smaller cooler works just fine.

Many budget builds include a windowless case, so the looks really won't matter.

Hahahaha that's hideous.

If it were $40 cheaper than the rest of the 970's I'd buy it. And just make sure it never saw the light of day.

So long, windowed case.

It's not new at all and for your $40 lower mark it'd be awesome, Galaxy has a beautiful 970 (with a backplate) at $307 right now

I run my browser through NSA ports to make their illegal jobs easier. :P
If it's not broken, take it apart and fix it.

Hmm, looks alright. I think I'll keep my TwinFrozr V one, but this may be nice if I ever SLI (which I won't)

Meh, most cards look tacky as shit.

Especially a few years later as design sensibilities change.

In terms of design I would rank the best Nvidia coolers as..

1. Stock reference cooler

2. G1 Gaming cooler

3. EVGA SSC

.

.

.

then everything else.
