Sold my 980 ACX 2.0's to buy Asus Matrix

Hey guys.

 

So I just sold both of my ACX 2.0 980's to buy 2 Asus 980 Matrix cards. No cash came out of my pocket at all so I'm happy about that. Do you guys think I should've just got 1 Titan X for now, and add another one later, or do you guys think I'll be ok with the 2 980 Matrix's? I don't have a 4k monitor, only 1440p, so thats why I didn't worry about the Titan X that much...

you can always sell them in the future and upgrade to a titan x, since they are worth more than $1k

Also my PSU is a Evga Supernova 750 G2, works beautifully with my ACX 2.0's, I'm assuming it'll also be enough wattage for the Asus Matrix's?

2 980's will easily get 60fps at 1440p for some time

1440p = 2x980

2160p = 1xtitan x

at 2160p the 980 still outperform the titan x

But then you have the limits of 4GB vRAM, at 2K its going to be either close to 100% utilized or just plain not enough. And the Titan X can game at 4K 60FPS without any of the issues related to SLI, which means that any game can be played at 4K, not just the ones that have an SLI profile.

For the future, yes you are right.

For now, 4GB is enough (unless you have a workload that is extremely VRAM taxing).

Two 980's is lots.  One 980 is good enough for 1440p in most things.
