i3 underpowered?

Ok so I am selling my old rig online and some guy asked if it had an i5. I told him only an i3. He said he didn't want it because an i3 is underpowered. Would you folks consider it too be? I never had issues with it, but then again that was a year or two ago.

Depends on which one, but some of the 4th gen i3's are not bad. What GPU comes with it too?

What are the other specs for the computer? My FX-6300 plays GTA V on almost ultra so I don't know why people would rather have an i3-2100 That's just troll

Sandy-bridge core i3-2100 is really not a powerhouse that's for sure, but it can still play most games just fine with the appropriate GPU...which would be around the R9 270 or GTX 660 for 1080p gaming.

Price isn't bad assuming it has a decent PSU and MOBO. You might be able to make a bit more if you're willing to part it out, and you have the right parts.

for $350 that's a pretty good deal for him. Looks like he passed up a good oppertunity because he doesn't know much. Just saying "does it have i5" means he has no idea what he's doing

if it was Z77 that would be a screaming deal. 600w PSU is nice.

 

There just aren't that many people interested in i3's 3 generations old.

Yea, but for $350 you get so much stuff, if you wanna replace some things you can. Just the GPU, ram, and OS is over 300

unlike the i5s and i7s, i3s and pentiums get a substantial performance boost each generation so im inclined to agree that this one is on the underpowered side but damn that's a pretty good deal, its not like i3s are worthless (except the 1st gen). idk how easy it would be though to find a used i5/i7 to swap that i3 if a potential buyer wanted to and its gonna be sort of a bloated cost for old hardware if you buy new ivy bridge CPUs that are still selling.
