Ati r9 3xx leaks ... is it true?

Sumtinwon

Perhaps the real question is, 'if' amd release a card to rival the 980/titan how long will nvidia let them keep the top spot

A little knowledge is very dangerous

Of course the 960 could beat the old 7870. That is what the 370X still is. Rebrand.... With a few tweaks perhaps.

The 7850 turned into the 270, 7870 turned into the 270X. Every thing was close to identical with memory tweaks and power adjustments.

These aren't even important cards now... the 370...??? Who cares... It should be a mute point that they are SERIOUSLY outdated now.

Worry about the rebranded 290X (the new 380X) and the flagship 390X. The rest....pointless really. I figured the 370X should be the 7970/280X but apparently not?

I've seen the 280X vs the 960 and it gets destroyed by the 280X....so

Not sure what else to say about it.

Well, they still haven't done anything about the 295x2.

But everyone pretends it doesn't exist for whatever reason.

Um no. The 370x is said to be a Tonga GPU. The GPU used in the r9 285. But this is only a rumour. The HD 7850 did not turn into a 270. It turned into a 265. The HD 7870 turned into both the 270 and 270x with the difference being only the clock speed.

Good catch. I never looked at the 265 to be honest. I had never wanted to upgrade the 7850 into a rebrand anyhow. If I was going to go AMD I would have gone a 290X but I chose the GTX 770 instead because mainly I wanted to see shadowplay.  Glad I did because it's really good for capping games.

I'm sorry but I don't understand your choice. The 290X is waaaaaay more powerful than a 770 and AMD cards also have a Shadowplay like program, which works just as well (I used both).

He's referring to the fact that nothing has been branded as ATI since 2010, they're just called AMD now.

Every benchmark I've seen the 295x2 gets destroyed by the Titan, 980 & 780's

Please send me some links, I'm always up for learning new stuff.

AnandTech's review of the Titan X.  The 295X2 beats out everything except 980 SLI in all the games tested except Civilization: Beyond Earth, and in a few cases even outperforms the 980 SLI setup.

Impressive,  I've learnt a bit more about the x2 than before.

It looks like its just 2x 295's stuck together on 1 card.

So reasons people probably don't buy it as much; 1) 700w power requirement 2) space for the radiator 3) not practical for crossfire because of the radiator

Edit: it gets expensive when you need to buy a new psu with each gpu :D

Well I know it's more powerful but it was also more money and I really didn't want another AMD card with the 300 series coming so close. The 770 was what I like to think of as a transitioning card. Since it was WAY better than my 7850...I really wouldn't see much benefit from getting the more $$$ 290x at 1080p anyhow. I lock my frames in games at 60fps. I also don't like the fact that AMD doesn't upgrade game ready drivers like Nvidia. I basically just wanted to see what team green was about since I was away from them for so long. In fact my system seems to run better using the GTX 770 all around for whatever reason. That dang MOM.exe....so hard to get rid of. AMD fills your machine with some weird stuff compared to Nvidia as far as I know. I may one day go back to AMD....maybe if the 390X gets to around $300.

Last I heard, rumor was that 370 was a new gpu and there was a 375 that was a rebranded 285, which would be in line with these benchmarks against a 960, which is about the same as a 285.

I heard something like that too haha. I also heard that the 370x is going to be a fully unlocked tonga gpu. Rumors are great xD
