Hey there

I'm building my new PC in stages. I just finished the first stage, and the next one is graphics! I'm looking for a decend graphics card that is in the 200€ price range. I'd like to have a card with GDDR5  and 3-4GB of Vram. I'm certain that you guys are way more at home in this topic and I would like some suggestions about some good cards :) . I'm planning to play games like BF4 and I would like some decend framerates at 1080P.

Shoot!

Thanks in advance!

I'd go with the highest end AMD GPU you could afford.

Which country are you in?

^Yep, pretty much this.

Depends on where you live, the prices are kinda different everywhere. Maybe something like an R9 280X or R9 280 or R9 290.

It all depends on all the prices where you live

Hmm.. 290 or even 290x, some people have been getting the 290x for 220 dollars :)

Dont think that 970's are quite hitting that point yet though. Perhaps a 960 if you're really feeling Nvidia. :)

EDIT; looks like i was ninja'd to the point...

I live in Belgium! My biggest doubt was Nvidia vs AMD. I read that AMD runs hotter than Nvidia? Does Nvidia benifit more from an intel CPU?

Yeah, the GTX 960 is not a possibility for OP too, since there is a 4GB version now.

That one is around the 200 USD mark too.

They do run hotter, although tbh its not really an issue, unless you have a very small case.

Nope, neither will benefit from a specific brand of cpu.

Hmmm. Not quite worth it so!

Quote people when answering them.

Well, if you look at the GTX 960 vs. R9 280, the 960 runs a bit cooler.

But that is very generalized and AMD has some good partners who make  good cooler (like Gigabyte and Sapphire).

And no, Nvidia does not benefit any more or less from an Intel CPU than a AMD GPU

Aha, okay! So the best bet for me is the AMD one? I heard rumors that Nvidia is more reliable than AMD in certain games, is that true or just some pure nonsense?

That's just a very generalized statement.

Yeah, some games seem to run better on some of the Nvidia cards, but the opposite is also true.

Both brands are very good, but I prefer AMD in your budget.

I did a fast lookup on the website where I buy my parts. I found the gigabyte GV-R9290C-4GD for about 299€.

I also found an Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 G 4GB for about the same price. But it seems the AMD one is slightly better (more bus width)

You can't really compare them in specs, but yeah. The AMD R9 290 is quite a bit better.

The Gigabyte's cooler is very good too :)

I will look up some reviews and decide what's best for me. Thanks for all the advice!
