Evga 960 costs similar to a asus 290.Get 2x290's instead.Or a single 970.

A single 970 is better, all games does not have support for SLI, And you will feel limeted by only 2gb Vram when you have that amount of graphical performance.

4GB 960 SLI > single 970 > 2GB 960 SLI

2 GTX 780ti but it will take A LOT of power. But the 780ti has 3gb Of VRam right? So it's still lower than the 970.

 

Edit: Still with that a single 780ti is plenty.

Hands down 780 SLI. Even one 780 can keep up with a 970. It's just that the 970 uses less power and produces less heat. If you have a decent PSU and decent case airflow this isn't really a big deal.
