My final build. Let me know what you think.

Advic3

Good morning all, I had a hard time choosing over dual 970's or a single 980. I watched some videos and yes the dual 970's out preforms a single 980 but, with a single 980, I can buy another 980 on black Friday or cyber Monday. So, I picked this build and i'm pretty content with it.

Will you be only gaming on this rig? If yes downgrade to an i5 and get liquid cooling or get a higher wattage PSU as you will be SLIíng that 980.

A 750W psu is enough for SLI 980.

The PSU can easily handle 2 980's without even breaking too much sweat. You can keep the i7 if you like, but there is no real benefit in games as of yet.

Plus, you can always add Watercooling later on. And I would suggest a better air cooler than a 212 Evo. Something like a noctua or a phanteks, or even prolimatech.

For the motherboard, I'd recommend something like the MSI Gaming 5.  The G45 is kind of...lower end-ish, and the Gaming 5 is only a few dollars more.

Like Sky said, if you're only going to be gaming you might want an i5 and a water cooler. For aesthetic purposes, and you'll be able to overclock a bit more nicely.

Just my opinion, but I'd go for a red GPU and not that silver...just for the color scheme.

with 850w it would be much safer cause you would have some headroom, IMO

You already have enough headroom with a 750w psu.

Plus, the efficiency will be much better as psu's are way more efficient at loads of 80-90% if I recall correctly.

Looks pretty solid. You could get away with dropping to 8Gb of RAM and a i5-4690k if you wanted to save money.

750W is plenty for 2 980's. Rule of thumb is to have 25% over whatever your final system wattage would be. As an example, my build below would be rated at 547W if I added a 2nd 980 on pcpartpicker. 25% of 547 is 136 = 683W. You still have additional headroom with 750W following this logic. I went 750W and feel fine about it.

You don't need a $130 cooler for an i5. Go with the CM Hyper 212 or there is no point switching to an i5 as you haven't saved any money.

Wow, thanks for the feedback everyone.

@SkyWard , @NRG & @Sean The reason I have an i7 is because i want to stream as well and I might video edit on the side a little.

@ninja359 , I'll keep that in mind, thanks :D.

I'm pretty content with this and I can always upgrade in the future. 750w Is more then enough for 2 980's but I see why you'd want 800 if not 850 (safety).

I'll leave this post up to see what other feedback i get.

If you're streaming and video editing/encoding then an i7 makes sense B)

Your CPU cooler will be adequate as well, all depends on how much you're willing to spend and what kind of aesthetic you're going for. I sure like my Kraken x41 glowing through the side window of my H440. It also complements the silence factor of the case.

MSI GTX 980 Gaming 4G is a solid card as well and would color match with your case and motherboard.
