Its a great start and I don't think the lower voltage will be a problem for long as hardware uses less power now a days so if everyone meets in the middle. Were Al be charging our phones in an hour.

It can text, email and check Facebook.

That's all I need, my computer does the rest

That's what I thought in the early years of the smartphone.... but after I got the 4s on contract, it all changed. Being able to have something to do/use while waiting for something or needing to look something up when out is super useful.

And do you require to be online for effective use of your "google maps"

As a matter of fact, you do not, you can save part of a map (so the city/town you live in and other towns/cities you visit) so that you can use it offline.

Guys!!! Not everyone needs youtube, octa core , almost AAA games in their phone.
Yeah smarphone saved YOU many times, but not Comessy. I bet his phone can do most of the things you do on your smarphone anyway.

Sounds good, if it does what they say then this will have a place in remote homesteads where a generator can be run at full for a short time to recharge the batteries rather than inefficiently for a longer period with older batteries.

I really hope this eventuates and doesn't just fizzle like all the other battery promises we hear.

4s? LOL that's not even smartphone :D that's piece of shit :D

Computer users fall into two groups:
those that do backups
those that have never had a hard drive fail.

Man, I really hope Microsoft takes off solid and straight with proper apps and support. iPhone is all good and thing and I'm using one right now for the sake of usability, simplicity and no headache, but can't keep up with it's useless battery and some other bullshit.

  • 2 weeks later...

http://news.stanford.edu/news/2015/march/aluminum-ion-battery-033115.html

The origonal story..

The reason it's not been invested in is because noone has been able to figure out how to get it to reliably hold it's charge.

This version has held it's charge 7.5 times longer than a Li-Ion battery does.. It's also safer and charges MUCH faster.

Think about this in a car... You think tesla won't be all over this... Fully charge your Plug-in EV in mins rather than hours?

Thats the main issue with non-hybrid cars these days.. The only other thing is weight to capacity.. If they can do ultra fast charging of these units and they are safe with cheaper and easier to work with materials.. You'll see someone getting in on it..

The second someone makes a batter thats the same size (and same cost or less) than current ones hold 2-3 times (or more) of the charge.. Game changer.. Imagine smart watches and phones that last a week instead of a day or so. Imagine a car that has 0 emissions that has a range of 1000 miles, Laptops and ultra-book that are either much lighter or can go on working for days instead of hours..

I say bring it on and the sooner the better. Safe and cheap are the big things in this so far.. Can't wait to see development so that the capacity is increased too.

I don'T PreSS caPs.. I juST Hit THe keYboARd so HarD iT CriTs :P

Quote or @dzzope to get my attention..
