Don't Throw Away Old CPUs! I'm Collecting!

Update #8 Just went live! I'm so so ready to get back into this project and to really start to focus on what i can find and get ahold of for the project. I have alot of really interesting prospects, and am really looking forward to the next few weeks, as i think they are going to be very exciting!

Ok, so for a long time i have been collecting CPUs. The goal is that I want to be able to try to get my collection as complete as it can be. Anything from an old Windows 95 to a dead CPU out of your last Windows 8 machine, I want to collect them all!

What I'm Looking For:
Any CPU! I don't really care if the CPU works or not. If it has bent pins, or is scratched or beat up, i just want to collect as many as i can! So if you have a dead or otherwise useless and worthless CPU i would love it if you would consider sending it my way! Anything from any processor family is appreciated, got an old Windows 95 or XP machine your getting rid of? Pull the CPU out and send it my way! Got a damaged or dead CPU that you cant RMA and your just gonna throw out? Send it my way! Any and all CPUs are appreciated.

Whats in it for you?
Every CPU I get is credited to the original owner/sender. Every CPU is displayed along with other CPUs within the same family and manufacturer. I plan to make small engraved nameplates to go with every CPU that will have what each CPU is, the name of the sender, as well as a date. These CPUs will then be displayed in a large frame in my house.

How to Get it Here:
If you are interested and you want to go ahead and send it my way, its not very expensive to do so! most CPUs are small enough and light enough that you can send them in a regular envelope! It is advised tho to wrap the CPU in something the will protect the envelop so that the sharp CPU edges wont rip or tear in shipping. PM me for more details. I am willing to pay for shipping, and if you are interested we will discuss more about that when we move ahead with the process!

Thanks!
WOW, the post just got its "hot" status. Thanks so much guys, it really does mean lot. The support is amazing, and the amount of CPUs that I've managed to collect has been amazing. Here is to much more to come! Thanks again!

dang it. i had a stack on my work desk back last winter. i have like 20 different CPUs....

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

Any chips help! I wont be posting my shipping information publicly, for obvious privacy reasons, but if you guys really are interested then you can contact me directly, or i will contact youguys, either way we can make it work. But if you want to message me, i would appreciate it, and we can discuss things like shipping and cost and stuff

Would love to see your current collection  :D

Plans are in the works right now, i have quite a few chips that i am currently still processing and making engraving plates for and stuff, so as soon as its photo worthy i will do for sure!

There is this electronics recycling place not far from my house that deals with all of the recycled electronics from the oil companies and my city

In the summer me and my crew like to heist the place at night and grab whatever we can and throw it in the back of the truck and drive away quickly

(Might be illegal?)

Usually we get old broken computers/laptops

I got a few cpus, lost them now

A couple years back we got a server rack

We quit last year after a close call

How do you collect the CPU by the way?

Well my collection started because my dad was a tech professor all throughout the time i was in high school so he started to bring home things from the old school computers that would have gotten replaced and he would take them to the dump. I just kinda started collecting and the collection has grown from there!

For displaying the CPUs i just have thin bezel poster frames that I display them all in. Its super easy to affix the CPU to a thin piece of that fancy poster-board that is made for putting around pictures in bigger frames. Then if the person or place i got it from wants their name displayed i use a small cnc machine with an engraving bit to engrave the small brass plates that go below them. it all looks amazing when its done, and as soon as i get the first one put together and picture worthy there will definitely be pictures

Yeah, i caught on after about a year of using it. it does look alot like a butterfly. but its been my logo for about a year now after a friend of mine did a ton of stream art for me and this was part of the bundle, so i've used it everywhere ever since

Alot of the components were damaged or outdated, but I managed to build at least 3-4 computers through the years

The problem was we could NEVER find a working hard drive, so we would have to buy them, and we werent going to go buy windows for it

It would be awsome if you had some old CPUs left over! the old ones are the ones that are hardest to find!

Update #1

I just got back from the disposal site that deals with electronics and other disposal stuff here in town. I got the idea after @Comessy said he used to heist his local disposal place. I went in and told them what I was doing. They were very nice in working with me and told me that I could take anything I wanted! To a degree of course. I made off with quite a few older AMD processors and a couple of other motherboards that I still have to pull CPUs out of. Super exciting news for the collection for sure. Lots of pictures to come.

My Granpa has a PC with a Pentium III in it, and it still works. He doesn't use it much anymore, so I could probably convince him to part with its functionality, but I dunno.

I also found a small, old computer at a Goodwill that was probably used for a cash register or something. It has an AMD Geode processor in it, which I hadn't heard about before I got it. I believe the computer still works, since it had a sticker on it that said "Tested, OK," but I don't have a power connector for it. So, I'm not sure if I want to keep it, buy the connector, and see if it does anything, or if I should give its CPU to you.

Why is the God of Hyperdeath SO...DARN...CUTE!?

Also, if anyone has their mind corrupted by an anthropomorphic black latex bat, please let me know. I would like to join you.
