Any ideas to keep performance but reduce price?

RayAIRSPro
Go to solution Solved by Lotus,

I would add an SSD, but that looks better. How much of a speed difference is there between a 970 and the R9 290?

If you add an SSD, stick to a BX100.

With regards to performance differences, here you go:

Crysis-0.png

Metro-0.png

3DMark-0.png

Unigine-0.png

Soon, I am going to purchase the parts for this next PC build. I have a $900 budget, but any cheaper would be better. Any ideas?

That SSD is not that good and I personally have not heard of that PSU, but Silverstone is a decent brand.

SSD: Get a Samsung EVO 840 or Crucial MX100

parts on that site are basically commercials. vendors have to pay to be listed on it so make sure you check all sites for the best prices.

Ok looking for affordable stuff is fine but do you really want to include an ECS motherboard in your build?  They are bottom of the barrel.  Do not cheap out on the motherboard.  In regards to saving some money you don't an SSD right away for anything with a pc so scrap that.  Also in regards to OS if you have to spend money on one you could get a key from G2A that I believe would be cheap.  I prefer to go even cheaper than G2A though ... HAR! HAR!

Too many ****ing games!  Back log 4 life! :S

SSDs wont help in-game. They only matter for boot/load times, which honestly are no big deal. I purchased an SSD myself a few months ago, and I couldn't care less about the improvement. My PC boots up in 10 seconds as opposed to 20. Doesn't matter. I haven't even bothered moving the rest of my gaming library over after trying the SSD out on my most played games. It didn't matter to me enough. I guess I'm just more patient than most.

I chose a 970 because it's cheaper from what i've seen, and the price-to-performance ratio is better

ECS if one the biggest motherboard distrubutors. They make mostly for OEMs, and they don't put work into making it look fancy.

I have never used an SSD in a build before, so any SSD would be nice for me, because it is an upgrade xD

Well the Kingston SSD's are barely an upgrade from a HDD.

I would still recommend another one.
