Is Windows 8 the OS for the enthusiast gamer ?

Hi !

 

After the videos Linus did that confirm the fact that Windows 8 brings actual performance improvements, is it logical that anyone with like a GTX 680 or a more powerful card should opt for the OS that gets the most of it ?

If you have a FX processor, moving to windows 8 would be the best. After alot of research i saw a graph of benchmarks of Win7 and Win8 both using the same FX Processor and the difference was 14%. I say i have felt this improvement since i moved to windows 8.

I like Win8, but a few games are not compatible. I didn't get Max Payne 2 to run for example.

Run it in compatibility mode.

No it didnt work for me ? CS:S and Killing Floor didnt work in any compability mode, they lag as h*ll with the gtx 770 ? WHat can i do?

I'm pretty sure killing floor isn't an issue with windows 8 as my desktop (6950) and laptop (640M LE) both run it fine.

I think Windows 8 is worth using, there are noticeable differences such as boot time even with an SSD and I like the new Task Manager.

Both CS:S and Killing Floor work fine on Windows 8, i've played both games quite a lot on Windows 8.

Did you do a fresh install of Win8? I had all sorts of issues upgrading from Win7, but haven't had any since doing a fresh install.

what! i play CS;S every single day with no issues or performance decreases, i have not encountered a game which made me use compatibility mode!

Fresh install. But anyways ive installed win 7 again and everything works fine.
