So this is an eyeglasses thread. To see who dominates the LTT community in terms of eye-wear.

  • Also if you wear eyeglasses/contacts cause you need them tell us what the reason is
  • like are they correctional glasses, reading glasses, or how bad your eyesight is.
  • You could also post you're funny/embarrassing moments with/without your eyeglasses/contacts.

So uhmm I have three pairs of eyeglasses, all of them are correctional glasses for my severe Astigmatism.

My favorite is a black full frame metallic pair

As far As I remember I broke/lost 8 pairs already

btw If you're wondering, yes I find people who wear glasses more attractive.

edit: added poll choices for those who don't have glasses, they're "n/a" some don't have them since you could still answer the question with the given choices

I've had 20/20 vision since the day I was born. :P Which surprises me, considering the amount of time I spend in front of a monitor. Nobody else in my family wears eye glasses for vision aid.

Have you checked with a doctor recently? Even if you have 20/20 vision you might still need correctional glasses for something like astigmatism

People who don't use glasses/contact lenses can't complete the poll even though the 1st question includes them too.

They can still submit their vote right?

According to my quick Google search on astigmatism, it's pretty much blurry vision correct? If so, then I have no blurry vission at any distances.

Does it hurt, my parents keep on nagging me. But I feel like my life would be incomplete without glasses. I'll be missing part of my soul so to speak.

I have them for medical reasons, however people think I look better with them.

My friends tell me I look like a lean mean nerd with glasses on but a fragile/cute being without them on.

The procedure itself doesn't hurt at all and takes about a minute per eye end to end. What you are left with afterwards (at least when I had LASIK done 13 years ago) is a sensation of having grit in your eyes for about a day and a half. So every time you blink it feels scratchy. However that was completely gone after ~30 hours and I've had zero problems since.

And just FYI I had -2.75 and -3.0 prescription with very strong astigmatism so if I was awake, I was wearing my glasses. From an eye test perspective I could read the top 2 lines and then it turned into a guessing game on line 3. Immediately after the surgery (they do both eyes in 1 session) they sat me in a darkened room for 10 minutes which happened to be the eye test room and even in low light, 5 minutes after the surgery I could easily read the 2nd from bottom line.

And I know what you mean about feeling incomplete. It took me a year after the surgery to stop pushing my phantom glasses up the bridge of my nose.

I have 14/20 eyes ( 7/10 ) And it keeps increasing over the year . I'm afraid I might go blind ... Can someone help me please ? My eyes easily gets fatigue fast . Any tips ? ( Linus Eyes Tips )

... Life is a game and the checkpoints are your birthday , you will face challenges where you may not get rewarded afterwords but those are the challenges that help you improve yourself . Always live for tomorrow because you may never know when your game will be over ... I'm totally not going insane in anyway , shape or form ... I just have broken English and an open mind ...

you need to change the poll

Which one do you wear?(Contact Lenses/Eyeglasses)

this needs a option for both ( I wear lenses to work and use glasses at home)

How many have you lost or accidentally/purposely broke?

this needs a option  - none

Do eyeglasses increase/decrease sex appeal?(Be honest now)

this needs the option - don't care

I wear lenses and glasses due to having keratoconus

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keratoconus

Its all about those volumetric clouds

Can't stand contacts because I have to touch my eye (I know people say "Oh you get over it" but they don't understand just how much I'm squeamish about eyes)

I've worn them for maybe 11 years now and they really don't bother me.

I did Karate for 7 years wearing them and honestly preferred fighting with glasses off than on.

How old are you now though? As you go through growth spurts as a child and into your teenage years a lot of people can experience eye issues. It's when my eyesight originally got bad. It deteriorated very rapidly between the ages of 11 and 14 and then slowed down and eventually stabilized when I was 17.

If you are still young then I wouldn't be hugely concerned about blindness, but if you are in your 20s or higher then definitely consult an expert.
