We are pulling out in 2014 though, yet the Super Tax is still imposed.

They are trying to reduce the debt. If they stop making retarded decisions then it would be paid off by around 2050 anyways and the tax would increase anyways still.

They aren't trying to reduce the debt, they are trying to make the Afgan's more independent so they don't rely on us for years to come, when the financial state of the nation will most likely crumble due to excessive costs with combat and the like.

I vote that adblock should be illegal. We are not paying for the videos we watch and a 30second advert is nothing compared to 10minutes in TV. People then get pissed at intrusive adverts when most websites that have intrusive adverts are ones that have torrents for illegal uses. Like if you agree. If you dont agree then state why. Im yet to see a decent reason as to why we should use adblock.

Firstly, ads are really badly done. They're often ugly and don't fit in with the visual scheme of the page they're on. They either need to improve, or we accept ads aren't an ideal payment system.

Now, the current problem with ads is the same as the problem with piracy...You either have to follow the terms that they've set, or you can avoid them all together, but there's no middle-ground. I'd be totally happy to have image ads beside the video if I could turn off the video ones, but as it is I only have the option to switch them all off or suffer the video ones, which I refuse to do. I watch a lot of videos and I think I worked out once that in a year of video watching, I'd have sat through at least 24 hours of ads if I had them enabled.

As it is, I try to support people through other means, but if they gave me a little more choice (and it's YouTube's job to do that, not Adblock's), then they'd get more from me than they do now.

Youtube does offer some options that i think are desireable, i know ive seen many pages where they have banner ads on the sides of the videos or under them. I think that is a great option. Also things like LinusTechTips does with the ad for Audable at the end is nice, and i like it even more because know that they are actually getting all of the support from the company for that, rather than the ads that go through Youtube where im sure Google gets a cut. But what really ticks me off is when i watch a 15 second long video and am forced to watch a 60 second long ad... every... single... time...

Hulu is also pretty bad about their ads in the videos, watching a 3 minute long video with 2 commercial breaks that are at least 3 minutes long each. And Hulu is even worse when you take into account that their pay service you STILL have to watch ads, even though its a bit less. That is the ONLY reason why i havent decided to get Hulu Plus even though i would love to have it.

Ads are like venom to me. I hate them, they don't interest me, they're often terrible and cheesy, I never buy the stuff they advertise and they're a waste of my time. It's worthless. It's the reason I don't watch tv.

Honestly if you need ads to make a living and you can't make enough then find another job. It's not that I don't think people deserve money for their content, it's just that I despise ads.

That said, most (big) youtubers make enough money. Trust me. A girl I know has a make up girly yaddayadda channel with 100k subs divided over 2 channels and a blog with one tiny advert and she makes well enough to live on her own (she's 18)

Ad Block is only a fraction of the equation, you still need the following:

NoScript

Collusion

Ghostery

Do Not Track, settings and plugins

DuckDuckGo search engine

WOT

TruswaveSecureBrowing

Try those and get back to us. B)

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

This is NOT the signature you are looking for.

If you all activate AdBlock, admins will have no choice but blow you up with more ads.

Sorry guys, but I block all ads.

I pay for my Internet, I should use it how I want. If Linus and other small businesses want to use ads to make money, then they should have a donation tab or premium membership.

Twitch and RoosterTeeth does this, I don't see why Linus can't implement something like this. Twitch can do $5 a month for livestreamers, no advertisements and nearly all proceeds go to the streamer. Roosterteeth has $10 every 6 months if you want to be a sponsorship and you get added benefits.

I'm not willing to sit through an ad to watch content, but I am willing to pay/donate for a better/longer experience.

I use Amazon and Newegg to shop, when I got to other sites like YouTube and my email, there is advertisements for things that I have searched on Newegg or Amazon. These ads I could care less about, but I want to know that if they are looking at this what else can they see? Can they see the contents of my emails? Can they open my attachments that are personal or business documents? (Rhetorical questions)

Although SOME ads come from malicious websites, definitely not all. I use AdBlock, but I Whitelist websites such as YouTube and others where I know guys are trying to make a living off of advertisements.

If you use their payed susbcription Google Apps i believe that they'll no more have to read your stuff to figure some stuff out.

I mean even calling it a simple "Reading" doesn't do justice, there's mainly APIs doing this, not a guy behind his screen looking at what you've got for your girlfriend and figuring out a way to date her if you see what i mean.

You already said it, intrusive adds. And no it's not on illegal sites, other forums I visit regularly and just browsing the web, auto-play adds etc. Also sites that are littered with adds that I have no interest in (I don't watch TV either) To be honest I'd rather pay like $5 a month to sub to my favorite Youtbue channels.

And if you have like almost 10 favorite channels that don't even produce that high quality content that i would even consider paying for, what i'm gonna do ?

Paying for HollyWood class video production quality in YouTube sure, but i'm not doing this for simple videos that i only watch to kill time or gain some knowledge.

Pop-ups and intrusive ads (which launch without even giving you the chance to blow them off) are bad, but other than that, i'm totally ok with the rest.

As I said in my other post, they could always give us the choice...Right now they force us to see every ad there is, so we have to block them all. If they gave us a choice, a lot of us would be quite happy to see the ads we're okay with if they let us remove the ads we're not (again, "they" being YouTube, not Adblock).

Hell, I'd even be okay with ads that played sounds at the same level as background music. If I were to start watching the Livestream Archive on YouTube and to the right of the video an Intel ad played with

at the end (once), I'd be fine with it, or hell, even a
with their music playing softly in the background, so long as there was no voiceover and Linus/Slick remained audible and understandable.

Do I have that option though? No. They don't give me a choice but to remove all ads.
