Here everyone goes the speed limit, so that isn't a problem I face. The only thing I hate about driving is ricers. Ugh, if I see another Honda Civic with gold rims, a fart can, and spoiler, it won't be pretty

Oh wait. That's what almost every teen in my area thinks is cool

I dont really have a ricer problem here. Come spring they all get eaten by the real cars that were hibernating.

Here everything is a ricer, pickup truck, or a Chevy Impala. You can understand why I want out of Indiana, badly.

People will probably still rice their self driving cars..

Yea, but you wouldn't want a self driving car in the country. Where I live, you cant go 30km without having to swerve or slam on the brakes at least once or twice. Can't imagine how many people w

Speaking of deer(e). I wonder how a self driving car will react to one of these behind a blind corner

The driver of the tractor will probably just feel a hard bump and think "Ah sod it.. 'nother one of those self drivin' wagons"

Living in the midwest there are more of these on the road than cars you'd want to own

I may not like it, but I see a complete take over by autonomous cars to be inevitable.

Having a few autonomous cars on the road provides advantages only for those who one them, but a significant amount more advantages can be utilized when there are no manually driven cars on the road. If every car is autonomous you can get close to eliminating all accidents by using a central control system, plus you can safely increase speeds dramatically, and you could completely eliminate stop lights and stop signs, just weave the traffic together at 100 MPH.

It's coming. Like it or not.

Indiana is a state of farms. I've seen quite a few of these and even grew up on a farm, these are nothing for me, the only thing I hate while driving are the ricers that think their cars are godly, and the deer in the middle of the road, farm equipment is nothing

farm equipment is nothing to you. But the point was how a self driving car would react. (Since i'm pretty sure that the side of the road is not an option for a self driving car)

(I grew up on a farm as well. And i've driven tractors like that. (masseys though. If it ain't red. Keep it in the shed)

Do you think driverless cars will catch on? And if so would you be interested in a driverless car?

I personally would never be a fan of an autonomous car. I'm someone that loves to drive, it's such a relaxing and fun activity. Also I don't believe you can get a driverless car sideways :P

What's your opinion on driverless cars? I'll never buy one in my lifetime.

What's the MSRP on one those cars? I would not feel safe allowing a system to drive me around.

So do you never take planes because you're scared of autopilot?

Autopilot and self-driving cars may perform the same function BUT, consider the scene and how complex the environment is for that car.  You don't have to deal with pedestrians, Dogs, Squirrels, Maniacs, Police, etc. in the air.  In any situation where there is little cause for alarm I would be comfortable being driven by a computer like on the highway.  But when things get tough I want to be sure I am in control and not let something else, even if it's perfect, be in charge of the safety of myself.

There is also a factor of independence included but it's minor.

It's not that I'm scared, it's that I require knowing I am not going to be the victim of a Glitch in software or some bit of unlucky cosmic radiation and by being the driver, I can be confident that my car is serving ME and not the software producer.
