Is this a good gaming build for £725. If not why? And any tips for improvement. Thanks!

Its very good. I would get a power supply with more wattage though. For a 290 I would get at least a 600w psu. 

Edit: And also get a better cooler for the gpu. The xfx r9 290 isn't bad, but vrm temps could be better. I would get the msi twin frozr r9 290 for just a few pounds more :

It's slightly over budget, but you could get a cheaper motherboard to bring it back under. However I would personally not recommend am XFX card as I've heard the have a high DOA rate
