I was surprised that my single 980 outperforms my old Crossfired XFX 7970's GHz edition by so much, every thread i read suggested that it wasnt a great idea to upgrade to a single 980..  But ill tell you what the problems and unoptimized Crossfired games out there makes it worth it 100x over. No longer do i have to deal with micro stutter and inconstant frame rates.

If you were in the same boat as me... Take the plunge the single 980 feels 100x smoother then any crossfiring i have ever done.

Yeah but that also means in the future you can add another 980 to give you some juice. If you had 2 970's adding another 970 would do less than a 2nd 980. Much less.

Has far has I know I can't use any of the bridges because my z77 Maximus V Forumla has a 1 slot gap between the 2 cards. Most of the bridges are 2 slot gap and I don't believe the tri one will work. I had a GTX 680 in this machine which was a 3 slot cards. So this mobo was made to allow 2, 3 slot cards in SLI.

 

Which I think its great having 1 slot between the cards. Better airflow.

My Z97 mark1 has a 1 card gap and I use the EVGA pro bridge.

it's just ultra disappointing considering it's a prime time card and it's not available on places like NCIX/Newegg and it's constantly out of stock on their site.

I honestly would have bought the Galax instead of the G1 if it weren't for the fact I would have to wait an undetermined amount of time.

Found a BIOS that enables me to have 1400 base and 1500 boost at 1.212mv. 

 

None of the modded bios released by K|NGP|N himself actually worked for me. Power target was out of range on them all.
