Agreed to sell my pc today:'(

Kyuubixchidori

Hey everyone! so just thought I would share my story.

2 years ago, this little techie gathered a gift of a mobo+I5, grabed his old case and power supply, and bought ram and a graphics card. little me didnt know much about gpus and got a hd 6670. soon I got the itch, and worked up to 7950/7970 crossfire. then me got a s340, and new power supply. I was happy.

I installed custom Leds. got a 27 inch monitor. Me and her where getting along well, she never blue screens even at 4.4 ghz. Then I decided, it was time to cut her off.

My buddy offered me 1000$ for

I5-3570K at 4.4 ghz

hyper 212

1tb green drive

7950/7970 crossfire.

8 gigs of ram

750 bronze power supply

s340 with 15$ of custom RGB lighting.

so, me being me, was like hell yeah.

off to building a watercooled I5+290 build. wish me luck guys!

edit: and before anyone claims Im ripping him off, I actually refused his offer of 1200. That was to much, and primarly I didnt want to wait the extra time it would take for him to earn the money. Hes a good friend, so I was as fair as possible with the performance. I showed him any benchmarks he wanted, and let him do the video work to test it. Hes used my system countless times, and knows exactly what its capable of. He knows every piece of hardware hes buying. If I was doing shady shit I wouldnt be bragging about it. I like to share because I turned someone who was going to buy a mac pro to someone who now is a pc guy, and is getting more and more into hardware.

and someone who is uncomfortable with building, and with a 1000$, he wants something physical to buy. its hard for some to throw 1000$ at a idea to build something great. so it was either this or a prebuilt. and go look at prebuilts at 1000$, then tell me I ripped him off,

hell, make a pc for 1000$, add a OS, then add 150$ that his friend would charge to build it. if its faster then the computer Im selling him, Im a asshole thats ripping him off. if not, well, im just helping some kid that happens to have way to much free money for a 16 year old

If you are ripping him off I'd not call him a buddy. Hey but that is just my standard.

Congratz on ripping off your "buddy"

compare it to literally any prebuilt, hes a apple guy and he wants a physical product to buy, not "hey Ill give you X to make X"

His other friends offered him pcs builds, They can't touch the 7950/7970 performance for under 1000. they want him to spend upwards of 1500, and like I said, he'd rather have a physical computer. When he first asked about it, he offered me 1200, so yeah, he is a buddy

Making money and ripping off, are two wildly different things. build a computer better for 1000, after a OS, after searching for Ebay deals, and after the 150$ fee people are charging to build it.

compare it to someone who would only buy prebuilts, and its a steal for him.

It's fuck tons better then anything you would find in the store or even online with that price.

But I still thing your trying to "validate" your decision by posting this on a public forum. Next time, just keep it to yourself

it was literally this or a mac pro.

itd be different If i pushed it on him, and I 100% agree, but he asked for this system. for 1200.

Everyone has a different situation, and you obviously had a opinion as soon as you read the OP, and no changing that, and I honestly see where your coming from, Just respectively disagree as you dont know him personally, and how he would of spent his money otherwise.

nope, was working on pictures, then was going to post pictures of the process.

wasnt going to post in build logs, as it was more discussion of the future of 2 pcs, and if anyone else perfers to sell things locally to friends or online, or to keep to themselves.

I know, and I don't know why people do it with cars and boats etc either.

Just extremely strange to call a inanimate object a her/he and giving it a name is cringe worthy to me.

No offense.

Oh its no problem. I guess its because something has more meaning then just a inanimate object. My dads old car, its a shitty escort, its worth like 600$ most, but its worth way more then that to me because of the memories. So its more then just a object if that makes sense

Of course I have that too, but no need to name it or give it a gender :D

I just call it 'that old phone from 2005 I still have that I bought with my dad' or something like that.

The only thing I ever name is cars. My buddies gtp is Elizabeth, my buddies trucks are Bella and sally, my buddies Prius is Jeff (don't ask) I'm still coming up for my car.

And yeah, 10/10 to grind your gears. (Pun cause besides the Prius and gtp they are manuals)
