Hi all,

I'm a Windows user currently, and I have a pretty decent PC, but I'm also a Sound Technician and I need an iMac (Desktop).
Problem is though, I don't have £800+ to spend on an iMac, so I was wondering...
Is it possible to have an EXTRA HDD/SSD with MacOS on, then switch between the drives with different OS to whichever I need at the time?
I've included specs and a picture example below. (Beware for 'Top Quality' editing below)

If this IS possible, please let me know as I need this info ASAP

Thanks in advance,
Luke

Seeing your running an AMD system, it will be more complicated for you to run OS X at all. Youll need a custom kernel and it will likely crash a lot until you get it right. Just know its going to be very involved and help will be hard to find.

Ive got OS X booting on an AMD e-450 before using Niresh but I never got it to work 100% correctly. Your mileage will vary.

Just know that your going to have to partition your drive using the OS X installer first, then install windows, then install OS X. Make sure you install the chameleon bootloader as well (I dont think any other bootloader works with AMD CPU's), once you get the bootloader installed it should find both Windows and OS X and give you a selection screen on every bootup

Thanks!

I was in your position a while back too. I love using Logic and trying to learn reaper and cubase just didn't go well, so I toyed with the idea of building myself a dual booting hackintosh. Even after reading a lot of guides, I figured it's much simpler to just spend the extra money and get a mac pro/iMac. Might be different coming from your angle because I wanted to adapt my current build to do it and I learnt it's simpler to just build from scratch.

Feel free to message me if you want to chat!

Corsair is overrated, and Anime is ruined by the people who watch it
