Lets see. Trying to play games (mainly RPGs and RTSs) on my old desktop. Also as my knowledge of computers increased I started to get into torrenting which further developed my understanding of computers.

My grandmother. As odd as it sounds, it's true.

She had a clerical/administrative job for a trucking company years ago, and she would have all of the 'newest' hardware (subjective by today's standards lol). I have fond memories of a laptop she gave me, it was a Hitachi which you could remove the floppy drive, the disc drive, battery, install other expansion cards, etc. It ran Windows 95 and I loved it. It was this muddy grey colour, and EXTREMELY heavy but it was a thing of beauty at the time. No idea where it is now.

My grandmother lugged in a old Asus desktop with a Pentium 3 processor. It ran windows 95. It's been awhile so some of those details could be off.

Lord of Helium.

Porn, at the very first.

Lol just kidding. It's because I had a console first and found out a computer was way more powerful and then I started looking at PC hardware.

NFS Underground 2.

Then I tried to build my own gaming machine, which is failed because I'm using a Sempron.

I was on tight budget. :D

Since then, I always research a lot before buying something.

Minecraft is what started my interest in pc gaming, but at that point I didn't know anything about how it worked. Over time I was interested in why my computer was faster than my friends and I started to research that a little. I've always had a thing for computers, my family would always come to me for help by the time I was like 13 or so. I remember opening up some old desktops that we don't use anymore and just taking them apart and putting them back together just to figure out how it works. After a while I wanted to build my own pc so I did, and I taught myself a little programming too, and that brings us to today. Obviously I've expanded my pc game library too.

Inherited an old "portable" Columbia VP 8088-based PC back in the late 80's. Found out that gaming (Paratrooper, Space Commanders, Zaxxon etc.) was a lot of fun. Later swapped to a pimped out Amiga 500 (HDD, monitor, extra floppy and so on), and bought my first "proper" PC, a 486 SX/33 back in the early 90's. Next one was a parts built Pentium, and I've been going since. I like tech and gadgets in general.

It started from getting terrible 20~30 FPS in games like Skyrim, GTA IV from my laptop I had for years and I wanted to get a ailenware PC just to play games without lagging. Googled for a while and I got a few results thats about custom PC and that's how I got into computers  :D  :D

I would say gaming got me into computers.

I saved up all my money to buy a gaming PC so I could play World of Warcraft back in 2005-2006. Back in those days you needed a powerful PC to handle 40 man raids.

CPU: 3770K | Motherboard: Asus Maximus V Formula | GPU: GTX 1080Ti SLI | Ram: 16gb Corsair Dominator Platinum 2133 | PSU: Corsair AX1200i | Storage: 2x Samsung 840 pros | Case: Corsair 650D | Cooler:  Corsair H100i with Noctus NF-F12 fans | Monitor: Asus ROG Swift PG278Q

Piracy. Plain and simple, I was a broke teenager and just couldn't afford to buy games or music at all and my family struggled a lot those times just keeping food on the table. I basically downloaded a metric ton of games and mp3 files and got everything I could, now I've grown to be an adult that spends heavily on PC gaming and can actually go to concerts and buy tshirts and such.

The first PC game I really embraced was Minecraft.  I was playing on a Phenom x3 and Radeon HD 3200 so performance wasn't the best.  This became all the more obvious when I got into more system intensive games.  At that point, I started considering building a PC (Which I knew nothing about at that point) and the rest is history...
