(1200$)4k gaming build

HmmR
Go to solution Solved by Guest,

@HmmR

No need to apologise  ;)

A GTX 980 will do fine with the Asus ROG screen. I would suggest going with an i5 4690K over the FX-8350 as well.

Something like this would be good.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($199.99 @ Micro Center)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-G1.SNIPER Z97 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($126.98 @ Newegg)
Memory: Kingston Savage 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 Memory  ($69.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Crucial MX100 128GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($64.95 @ SuperBiiz)
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 980 4GB STRIX Video Card  ($532.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Optical Drive: Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer  ($14.97 @ OutletPC)
Total: $1252.72

Hate to break it to you bro, but that isn't going to be gaming at 4k.

A different case, and 2GB of VRAM isn't gonna do a lot of good at 4k. The r9 290x and a cheaper case is what i'd suggest.

Asus B85M-G / Intel i5-4670 / Sapphire 290X Tri-X / 16GB RAM (Corsair Value 1x8GB + Crucial 2x4GB) @1333MHz / Coolermaster B600 (600W) / Be Quiet! Silent Base 800 / Adata SP900 128GB SSD & WD Green 2TB & SG Barracuda 1TB / Dell AT-101W / Logitech G502 / Acer G226HQL & X-Star DP2710LED

so guys suggest a new case?

Why 4K at this budget?

You have a 4K monitor?

if not, go 1440p

That gpu will take you nowhere near 4k. Find a case at less than half the price and invest in a better gpu.

No reason not to go and get an SSD at this budget. I would get one to put your OS on, since there isn't a way to fit a better graphics card at this budget anyway. (If you consider a 970 par, and not superior to a 290, but I would aim for a 290x if you go that route)

Edit, actually a 970 would be better than a 290, but maybe par witha  290x.

You're going to need some extra fans put up with those 290s.

Unless your doing really ran intensive apps go with 1600 ram.

The phantom is a really old case, and it's not even close to on par with some of the features a modern case like the r5 or enthoo have.
