How good is the EVGA NEX750B?

Fate

It's the cheapest decent looking 750/850w PSU on Newegg by quite a large margin after MIR. I just said screw it and am buying a 290 after AMD said they're not launching the 300 series until June/after and the rumors don't look too promising for the 380(x)'s (rebadges). I was wondering how good this PSU is for a single 290 and 3570k (will likely be overclocked in the future) and possibly another 290 in the future? I know in theory it should be able to handle two 290's and a 3570k (Guru3d says the two GPU's alone consume 493 watts), just not sure how good the thing is in general.

For dual 290s, I think you should go for 850+ Bronze.

Sig under construction.

As @Tedster said, you should go for 850W instead. If you get the 750W it will still work but you will be pushing it to 100% load while gaming. There is the chance that your PSU might not last for too long.

At least with the 850W you have 150W more headroom on the +12v rail.

I haven't seen a test with dual 290's going over 700 watts (I saw one with 743 watts from the wall, which means it'd be under 700 with this PSU if my math is correct and it was with a 4960x) and have seen several people with 290's and a 750 watt PSU so I don't want to spend an extra 35% on a power supply for the possibility of another 290 and further overclocking potential (don't plan to overclock the 290's very far, if at all).

I heard it gets pretty loud when near max load, but I have headphones on 99% of the time when I'm on my PC so I don't mind. I saw in another thread you have this PSU, do you think it's good other than the loudness?

For single GPU its ok, its the second one ive had. First was so loud i RMA'd this one is slightly quieter. The cables are really nice and its Bronze, only pro's i can say about it.

Would you say it's a worthy buy for $45? I can't find anything else decent on Newegg (needs to be Newegg because paypal) that's not significantly more expensive.

Not many deals going on right now, but i would look for an 800w Bronze. With a single 12v rail.

I have one, and yes it's not the best, but for its price its pretty good. For your setup though, 750 watts is cutting it close..

I have the NEX750B in my secondary rig.  Only one video card...i7 3770K at 4 GHZ...runs quiet.  Not a bad power supply, but if you are gonna crossfire, I agree that you should get minimum 850 Gold.  EVGA Gold PSU's spec pretty close to Platinum.  The newer model G's are Seasonic...older ones were Superflower...both very well made PSU's.
