My main monitor is connected VIA DVI-D (Single Link) to a DVI-I (Dual Link) port on my GPU. The problem is when i connect my second monitor (with a VGA to DVI) adapter I can only get video to that display.

Here is how the back of my GPU looks...

I basically just want to connect both monitors to the DVI but only one works at a time... why is this?

Also the second monitor is using a DVI to VGA adapter since its old and the adapter does work but only one monitor can work at a time.

EDIT: The second DVI connector doesn't seem to work at all for some reason even with only one monitor plugged in.

EDIT 2: Apparently using the HDMI port with a HDMI to DVI adapter made both displays work but that doesn't solve the issue of why my other DVi port doesn't want to output a signal.

This works...

I think you need to use the DVI-I to go to your VGA monitor and the DVI-D to your DVI monitor

Is it a 6950 or 6970 asus directCUII thing like i have? :D anyway, if you want to solve it this might work

Turn your pc off and look with a flash light or something for a tiny tiny switch next to the crossfire connectors, and change it's position. After you done that, just boot it and try again.

If you want my attention, quote meh! D: or just stick an @samcool55 in your post :3

The one with the minus is DVI-D and only moves digital(no VGA) IIRC.

They all have that minus pin.

Which one doesn't work at all ? DVI-I or DVI-D?

And have you tried DVI on GPU (which isn't working) to DVI on your monitor?

Alright, I'll add the word just in order to please you :P

But the one with the 4 extra pins around it works on my VGA monitor I just cant get both DVI ports working at the same time also the right DVI doesn't have any video at all.

No I have a GTX 970 G1.

Well than it's probably a weird nvidia limitation, afaik they are limited to 4 display outputs at once max.

Try to get an hdmi-dvi connector and use that for the dvi-d screen and the dvi-i for the vga

The DVI-D isn't working at all i plugged my DVI monitor into it and got power savings mode it didnt even detect a display was connected.

I could do that but I'd rather not unless it's a last resort.

Hmm, then I'm afraid I don't have any more ideas.

Thanks anyways.

I have the normal Windforce 970 and both of my displays work just fine. (both connected through DVI)
