Change your password. Also make sure that it's WPA encrypted or whatever is latest (im networking retarded). I know that a lot of people make the mistake of using WEP which is much older and easier to crack

Change name and password, use the best Encryption your network/router provides.

Best encryption: WPA enterprise in which they manage to hack into and steal the password.

HELP... ANYONE... MY ROUTER IS SLOWLY DYING

You could always be cheeky and seeing if hes got any files open to the network.

Or, here's an idea. Just block that specific computer from accessing the web through your router's firewall. First off though, what isp & router do you have

Just go wired and turn off your router's radio.

For most people that simply isnt an option. That leaves many laptops w/o internet and any tablets / smartphones to drill up their data plans.

EDIT-- @ OP;

If you have any sort of a modern router you can literaly just remove their internet access through the network devices panel, but before doing that you should see what was their latest ports being used, that will show you if hes been using Utorrent, bittorrent, or Vuze, or whatever bull shia p2p. And it would confirm if that's the culprit.

Turn on MAC address filtering, if you're the only one using the WiFi then it shouldn't be a problem. Most consumer routers feature a "copy to" system which makes it easy to set up, log in to your router and find your MAC address filtering page, enable it and then if you're lucky then there should be a drop down box to select hostnames to add to the Allowed list, something along the lines of " [Hostname] --Copy to ID-> [iD number] ", select what devices are your's and ignore the rest and then they shouldn't be able to access your network. Although, MAC address filtering is a bit of a bother when guests come around needing Internet :P

First of all, you should fuck with him. You should intercept his packets and change stuff. Maybe make it some every time the word "it" appears in a web page it changes to "dicks" and every image on every webpage is pornographic? You could have a lot of fun with this person!

But seriously, after you've had your fun, make sure your password is secure (WPA2!), disable WPS, and maybe turn on mac address filtering. You could also not broadcast your SSID.

Well, before I head off to bed, i'll give you this protip OP.

If you happen, to be on verizon, then it's as easy as this.

1) login to router

2) go to network

3) locate suspect computer, and view details to see forwaded ports on that machine. The ports will be labeled 90% of the time, with the program that uses them. This is how you will tell if that is the culprit, they will have a torrent app on their machine. This does not ALWAYS prove it's the guy, but if you're really the only one on the network, and dont torrent, then that's your guy.

4) go back to network overview, and click the handy-dandy, "Block Internet connection" button on that devices panel.

5) Before you finish, change password and network id

6) Optional: for funsies, click on "view shared files" to see if he's dumb enough to have any shared files. No harm in, getting to know the guy whos stealing from you a little is there eh?

You can also go into advanced settings and limit the number of IP addresses that are allowed to connect to your router. If you have no need for more IP addresses on your router than you need. Just go into advanced and look in the dhcp server folder and change the IP range start and end. His IP address should be listed on that page as well. Kick him off there. Then change your IP range and save. Also change you password to get into the router settings.

It's always a good day if you woke up breathing.
