Posted March 3, 2015 Does the sound in a subwoofer sound better with a more expensive "quality" cable? (only cable talking here, not receiver or anything) My cable looks like this kinda, just not gold plated and looks 2x cheaper
 That's why Monster sells $50 cables and Fry's sells generic $10 cables. They both work the same, you're just paying for looks. My arsenal: i7-9700k Gaming Rig, an iPhone, and Stupidity. Alrighty, but gold plated cables are just for the cable to last longer during unplug and plugin, right?
 Posted March 3, 2015 Alrighty, but gold plated cables are just for the cable to last longer during unplug and plugin, right? I guess. Really, they'll last just as long. The only difference may be the cable's thickness but that wont affect performance. My arsenal: i7-9700k Gaming Rig, an iPhone, and Stupidity. Posted March 3, 2015 If it's digital then no, if it's analog then yes but not that much, just don't get the 50 cent cable and you should be alright, Monoprice makes some pretty nice cables for $4. Posted March 3, 2015 Alrighty, but gold plated cables are just for the cable to last longer during unplug and plugin, right? I think gold is actually less durable than most metals used in connectors because it's so soft. Gold plating might have something do with it's conductivity though

Posted March 4, 2015 I pulled some old component cables i had apart and used one of them for my sub. I think subs are still analog? so yes the cable does matter. Least on my receiver the sub is analog. I think if its not terribly long you should be fine with pretty much anything.
 Posted March 4, 2015 subs are only analogue. Only reason i would pay a little more for a sub cable is for the insulation. as interferences as thin cables may contribute to humming noises.
