Hello community!

It's not long now before I'm off to university. Like all enthusiasts, I'm already thinking about computers.

At the moment, I've got an alright rig. Runs the games i play well and it's great. However, the university that I want to go to is three hours away and I can only get to and from via bus. I'm wanting a good PC while i am there to play games, Skype people and code (as the course contains some python, which admittedly I can do on my Chromebook).

What makes it more difficult is that I only get accommodation for 44 weeks of the year, so i won't have a permanent home for it. What would you people advise? There is the possibility of purchasing a notebook (something with discrete graphics so i can play csgo), so is there any recommendations for that (<£1000).

Thanks in advance.

Hmm.... you could always build a small ITX build. I have seen alot of power packed in xbox360 sized places. If you are only moving it a few times a year, wouldn't be too bad. I can't really thnk of any decent gaming notebooks but I am also not very up to date on em either.

Is it bad that my dream setup only costs a few thousand not counting the obutto?

For what you're doing, a laptop is probably the best option. I personally use an MSI GS60 Ghost for my course (Programming and database mainly) but it performs well with 3D work, as well as being pretty good for games. Nice IPS 1080p screen, as well as SSD for boot and HDD for storage. It's around £1000

Would taking my existing parts (maybe replace a few things) and put tat into micro atx work ok?

I use a mid tower at my college. It's easy enough to move around and I keep a spare monitor/keyboard/mouse at home. I also leave a set of cables all ready for me to plug into when I get home. Really, it's not too hard to move a mid tower around. The trouble is moving it with the keyboard, monitor, and the rest of your cables.

CPU - Intel i7 3770K
GPU - Nvidia Geforce GTX 650TI boost
Storage - 2TB HDD and 128GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD
RAM - 8GB DDR3 Corsair Vengance
Motherboard - MSI Z77A-G45

Your current motherboard is good enough. Maybe a gtx 970 will be enough.

I'm confused. 44 weeks a year is 308 days. Are you saying you can only bring what you can carry on the bus with you?

I go to university and what you have sounds goods. Regular desktop in your dorm and a chromebook for class. (I have yet to need a computer for during class in my 5 years of university. It's just a distraction)
