PS4 and Xbox One GPU Specs Officially Released

Minasune

The 7800 series cards are Pitcairn, so I'd say around a 7850. And Bonaire is a 7790. Hope this helps :P

Xbox has the same TFLOPS as the HD7770 but slower core speed. http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/graphics/7000/7770/pages/radeon-7770.aspx#2

PS$ is about a 7850 with a bit more shaders http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/graphics/7000/7850/Pages/radeon-7850.aspx#3

A 650 ti boost is nowhere near a 7850, I would say more like a 660 or a 570.

OK so XBOX is a HD7770 with a few more shader cores but less freq and the PS4 is a HD7850 with a few more shader cores but less freq.

XBOX is a 7770 with 2 more Compute Units welded on. With a 800MHz Engine Clock instead of a 1000MHz Engine Clock.

PS4 is a 7850 with 2 more Compute Units welded on. With a 800MHz Engine Clock instead of a 860MHz Engine Clock.

So the PS4 is quite a lot better.

At stock it is but the hd 7850 is underclocked as hell so when clocked similar the 7850 smokes the boost.

So as expected, they are both 500$ PCs, I guess that means I won this argument :D

New Zealand Prices

XBOX $750

PS4 $650

You can not build a $650 PC with a HD7850 here as the 7850 is $300 on its own.

To be fair he does have a point. Consoles will be optimized a lot in the future which will make them run better than their desktop equivalents. For example bf3 you can't run it on a 7800 gt but it can run on the ps3.

I say this is a good thing, especially for PC gamers.

Since the consoles have 8-Core AMD CPUs then next gen multiplatform games will be optimized better for multi-core processors, and we won't be held back by consoles that much for the next few years because of the better GPUs.  :)

Good for the money.. This is why "analysts" say better than the average gaming PC.. But who games on a $500 pc? Not the average gamer.

But these consoles are basically AMD-FX PCs with Radeon HD 7000 graphics.  I wonder how many optimizations devs can possibly make that won't make their way over to the PC.

That is true though. They are as close to being pcs as ever but since all consoles will have the same specs unlike pcs, so they can be easily optimised.

The PS3 can run it because it has a very cut down version of the game running on it. It has about low graphics settings @ 720p, around 30 fps. Don't forget that consoles only have 24 players as well. So yes, a 7800 gt could run BF3. :P

Well there is quite a bit of difference between the two. Just looking at the TFlops alone there is a significant difference. Still neither is outstanding.

It's better than the 7800GT and 256MB of RAM that the PS3 has.

Each compute unit contains 128 GCN cores, the 7870 has 10 compute units & the 7790 has 7 compute units.

The PS4 has a 7870 with 1 compute unit disabled, = 1280 - 128 = 1152
The XBone has a 7790 with 1 compute unit disabled = 896 - 128 = 768

They disable 1 compute unit on each GPU during the binning process to improve yields.

performance wise though the XBone has a 7750 and the PS4 has slightly less than 7850,going off of the pixel rate and the floating operations.

dont forget they are both using an APU so the performance will be a little more than what it is showing

On the PS4 the GPU can run faster, due to the lower latency because of the shared memory pool.

On the XBone though the GPU will actually be slower because of the slow DDR3 RAM.

see I think the PS4 won't see much of a difference in performance from an actual HD 7850.

XBone though due to it's DDR3 system memory will probably perform significantly worse.
