Injuries?

grimmjow660

Hey guys, just wanted to share any injury stories.

I just dislocated my shoulder on monday, and am in a sling. Im told I need to wear the sling for 1-4 weeks and recovery could be about 12 weekd.

The bad part is, I start a new job with a company in exactly 1 week and I need my arms for this. So I'm stressed and sad.

I hope they keep me.

Anyone else have anything similar?

Wow, that would be really dickhead-ish of them to let you go because of an injury.

I've personally never had anything serious, I've had a couple of motorcycle accidents but always managed to walk away with scratches and bruises. The worst I ever had was a broken finger in middle scool. Oh, and I once walked barefoot into one of those thick tape dispensers that was laying on the floor, the metal blade took the skin right off my toe, leaving me with the bone sticking out. Had to get it stiched, but wasn't half as bad as it looked.

Health is more important than money. Ironically, you can die but you cannot be sick on the other hand if you're not rich.

Yea they needed to fill my position quickly, so I'm hoping they are understanding.

Same one I always share:

Hitting a red run in Pila, Italy for the first run of the week was a bad idea to say the least. Riding down the slope, I was pretty competent on skis and had ridden black runs the year before, so my 8 year old self wanted to show off to my, at the time, mum's boyfriend. I just flat lined down the red, which turned very steep very fast. Out of control, I decided to head into what's known as a slow plough. However, when doing this, you're supposed to turn and I had completely forgotten this. So, I just kept gathering speed when eventually, my skis were pulled out from under me and I rag doll down the hill. Upon stopping, according to my mum and step dad, all they could see was the X from two crossed polls to signify a serious injury. I barely remember the ride down, though, I know I skied it and I don't remember the, luckily, English woman who woke me up.

That year, I still got a 5 Star with Distinction on skis and was allowed to switch to snowboarding, which resulted in this injury last year:

Last year I was in Avoriaz, France for the week. The first day started off rather smoothly, I was happily cruising down the red runs just off the Switzerland border when I noticed a huge powder run that ran under the lifts and had some pretty awesome drops too. Decided to go down the run. Heading down was great, the snow was just soft enough, even with the heavy winds the night before. But as I reached the end of the run, I decided to try and jump a small hip transfer made out of a snow drift and a six foot rock face. This was a bad idea. When I landed, the front of my board dug deep into the soft snow, instantly stopping my board from moving, but thanks to the momentum I was carrying, my upper body kept moving, resulting in my knee bending out sideways with a loud crack. There was no damage to the bones, but I had to spend the rest of the holiday in a hot tub, trying to sooth the pain. When I got back home, I went to the walk in doctors surgery and I found out I had damaged my MCL ligament in my right knee. All this happened 4 hours into my holiday too. ^^

Broken my thumb when snowboarding and wrist when skateboarding. Gotten concussion from snowboarding, which resulted in the shell of my helmet snapping and falling off too.

It May not help but you've got the injury now and there is nothing to do about it anymore. Stressing about it will certainly not help. Everything that happens now is out of your hands.

I hope you get better soon and remember stressing won't help.

I once broke my face, well I can't remember exactly the bone but it is like behind the left cheek. I was riding in a dirt bike at top speed and I felt. I was in middle school tough.

Similar thing happened to me.

Faceplanted in the middle of a street (the only time I've fainted in my life) landed on my jaw which broke in three places and almost the entire upper row of teeth flew out of my face, through the skin (I'm nearly 2 metres tall) as well as every other tooth chipping or splitting. A relative drove by as I fell. He described the noise as a stack of dinner plates hitting the ground. As I was getting up, poking at my face, and laughing deliriously he turned back and drove me straight to the hospital.

Had several surgeries followed by a year of eating through a straw because I was wearing a metal jaw brace with elastic bands holding my jaws in alignment.

Then once that was over I has 1-2 years of frequent dentist and specialist work done.

I now have almost all Zirconium (chemically created diamond) teeth, a kevlar inlay on the chin bone, and look better than before it happened, but it cost like $25000 total lol.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

I have a 4cm x 4cm metal plate in my head.

During a concert, I fell down form the stage. A two meter drop, that I took head first.

Luckily my skull was the only thing that took damage, and the metal plate is all that remains of the accident.

Oh, that's nasty. Was the plate put in by doctors? For some reason I got the impression that it was lodged in there from the fall. :P

I should probably have said, that the playe was installed by doctors. My skull was just to broken to by itself, so the metal plate was installed.

1.The most serious injury that I have ever had was when I was being chased by my dog (having fun) and I slipped and my knee went into a cinder block, I have a 1in scar on my left knee.

2. My most recent injury was about a year ago, I was working on a clients computer and her side panel was stuck, after about 10min of trying to get it off, it finally gave way and my thumb went straight into a metal tab, I had a nice 1in slice on the inside of my thumb.

Not really. It makes the same sound as when you tap the skull.

By the skin is loose where the metal plate is, so I can lift it of the skull.

The biggest injuries I've ever had are:

1. Tearing the soft tissue of my heel when I was 11 due to excessive cross country running. I was unable to run for 2 months, was limping for weeks and had to have my leg lifted off the ground as much as possible, so as not to put unnecessary stress on it. That's a difficult thing for an 11 year old who just wants to run around and play manhunt all the time. This still reoccurs occasionally with excessive exercise such as running, football or cycling, and will likely be with me for life.

2. Another injury I'm carrying involves my shoulder joint wearing, resulting in a dull pain when I swing my arms or run too much. This happens fairly often and has been put down to growing pains, as I'm still growing slightly. It sorts itself out after a few minutes but is a real bitch whilst it's there.

3. I've never broken a bone, but I have had a tooth damaged by being kicked in the face. It was kind of a clusterfuck of events, but needless to say I might have caused one or two people to trip over, one caught me accidentally as they went down, sending me flying and my tooth being cracked. I did get a couple of days off school to get it removed and to recover from the bruise on the side of my face.

So all in all, no major injuries, just niggling pains really, besides the tooth, and that was when I was about 7. I've gotten more sensible in my teenage years (largely) I just seem to deal out mental injuries to myself by being a lazy sod.
