Decent, Free VPN?

I'm trying to download something from a bit of a sketchy download site and it is unquestionably being throttled by my ISP.

Can anyone hit me up with a free VPN i can use every now and then? I don't usually use one

Edit: Just remember hotspot shield has a free version, gonna give it a try. All recommendations are still welcome

if you are using torrent, enable encryption in the client's options to "bypass" the throttling. (this doesn't protect you from actual copyright infringement)

It can also just means the servers are busy/not many people are sharing at decent speed.

 

If it's a direct download type of thing, there's no "decent" free VPN, they are all bad/infested with ads.

are you sure there servers arent just you know, busy

I tried a VPN with a 100mb trial for a different download (because the download was like 50 mb) and the speed went from 50b/s to 10mb/s

Oh, i was always told by my pirate friends that nosteam.ro was good, but i've never pirated anything before. I think it's immoral.

 

I'm just using Hotspot shield right now, getting like 200kb/s. Much improved but not great. I'll try some of your guys' other suggestions in the future to test them out

FrootVPN works really well for me. It's free and has really fast speeds and unlimited bandwidth. One small complaint I have about it though is that since their servers are based in Sweden, some websites will be in Swedish, but generally it's ok.

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.
