Windows: good. Misses some features, but works.

Great for gaming.

Great for bussinesses because they can easily call Microsoft.

Linux: Nice. Good for servers. Haven't used it a ton. Lots of versions, so very accessible.

OSX: not my cup of tea. Not much else to say..

Not good for gaming (but that is partially due to hardware too).

Not really easy to get on all hardware (not as easy as any version of Linux or Windows

Windows: good for games and that's it.

OS X: Haven't used it enough to give any criticisms on.

Linux: Greatest OS ever. Fast, secure, free (in all senses of the word) and absolutely beautiful. Plus it is growing in the game department!

Windows: readily available and well supported/documented.  great gaming support (or at least the bets there i) and for hardware too.

OSx; Haven't used it as much, but less customisaation, less support for gaming and different hardware, Nice software for certain types of production. Lovely eco system,if you liek that sort of stuff.

Linux; haven't used it :( All i can say is that its not too noob friendly :P

Can you give your thought about these 3? For Linux just in general.

  1. Windows: a good OS meant for general home users and large enterprises. Good support.
  2. Linux: highly customizable and secure OS with lots of features. Great for advanced users and developers. Game support is a bit low and if you have problems with the software, you have to rely on the community.
  3. OS X: an easy-to-use OS that works awesome if all of your tech is Apple. Otherwise, it will be harder than Windows. Diferrent from Windows, switching can take a long time.

Windows: Babies first OS, susceptible to viruses due to being the most popular, good for gaming.

OSX: Clean design but strange behaviors, number of viruses increasing due to increased popularity. Meh gaming.

Linux: Plenty of choice for beginners [ubuntu, Elementary, Mint, Zorin, Evolve, Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Manjaro, SolydXK, and more.] Can get very advanced and very customizable. Lacking OSX and Windows software that you may need. Great community, great for servers. Viruses are there but they are so few compared to Windows and even OSX that it can be considered the most secure. Is currently in the first wave of gaming boom, but still a meh on AAA support.

Lord of Helium.

Windows: Good for support (both available software as well as literal support for troubleshooting due to market share). Particularly good for gaming because of wide adoption.

OSX: Meh. Have multiple desktops. I hate dealing with it because it likes to pretend there's nothing wrong sometimes when there is.

Linux: Lots of DIY. Support in general is inferior to the other two (constantly improving though).

I learnt the terminal in os x and when I adopted linux (debian - Ubuntu) i found it almost identical and baring many similarities, i loved the sudo apt-get way to install programs, much easier than trawling dodgy websites looking for win32 disk imgr

Linux is really good, if you have a decent computer try ubuntu, it is actually easy to use once you learn sudo apt-get

Windows: Is crap, the only reason why it exists is because it has all the software

OSX: Was good, now getting progressively worse due to Tim Cook (more bugs, stupid stuff in general)

Linux: Pain in the ass to install stuff, but is really awesome

That's because they're both bash... And both Unix based...
