MetallicAcid's ROG V Gene TJ08-E

Hey spec, it's easy. I am using just 240grit wet/dry sandpaper and sanding in just one direction. I had a few dents in my alu piece so sanding took 2 hours :D

Cheers Axis!! :)

WOW thank you fuzz!! What a compliment :D I hope you stick around for the next updates.

A little mini update guys, I had made a miscalculation on how far out the plate has to be from the shroud to be able to hide both LED's and plexiglass. I will be remaking another plate today... :)

Sorry to hear about the setback, but I know it'll be worth the extra work when it's finished.  I love the design!

Thanks mate!! The revised backplate is almost completed already :D Hopefully I can rig up the LED's and plexiglass tomorrow ;)

Well it's inverted ATX so you can see the window on the finstack, but green, not maching logo will be hidden. That's really clever.

BTW, WAITING FOR UPDATES!!!!

Thanks for checking out my log mate! I am wanting to cover the 780 LED as the green does not tie in with the theme... But when I do cover it, and set in my own LEDs behind, I can change the colours to whatever I want with the help of the RGB :) I can post up an all green photo if you want once it is completed?

Hey Spec! You were right on the logo :) I can't wait to post them.. I am going to buy some sandpaper today to finish off this revised GPU block, so hopefully I can post up some pictures tonight if I get it finished.

Hey spec, I am sorry ;) Last night I had to take care of my daughter, cook and clean. But here come some pictures down below! I just have to drill one more hole and then I can start on the lighting.

Mouth watering build. LOVE red and black

Cheers s0n! I hope you still stick around as the build is nearing completion!

Thank you so much Titan and lookout. I wouldn't know about the best build as there are many modders and builds that I look up too, which I think are much more advanced than that I am doing with this build today. But I appreciate your comments infinitely as it does give me more motivation to aspire to a higher level of detail, craftsmanship, and ingenuity!

I'm really digging the floor lighting and backplate that you have done mate. I've dabbled in similar ideas but nowhere near as well executed as what you have here. Top notch!

Thanks marto. Do you have a link, or any pics of your work?

I do of the finished build, but none really showing off the mod as the side panel is on in them. The idea behind it was to wrap the rad up in a brushed alloy shroud with UV acrylic inside the shroud and a line of it exposed either side of the rad, then some UV led's in the back so the visable parts had a blue glow to them rather than throwing light if that makes sense?

Nowhere near as complex as pcb style traces like you have done :)

Makes sense to me :) But I didn't think that my design was so complex. It was only time consuming. I think the panels took around 3 months (an hour here and two there every once in a while) to complete. Then there was getting the lights in there :P Well, maybe you are right, it was complex :P

Update

So, I was kicking around in Sketchup again (at work ;) ) and came up with a window design. I was hoping to get everyone's opinion on it.

That GPU plate really is a thing of beauty, very nice work!

As for the window, I have tried to find something wrong with it and so far I am failing. :D

Thanks for the input alpen! :) Your opinion is much appreciated.

I was thinking of attaching the plexi to the outside of the door, using black M3 hex screws. Would this look good everyone?

I like the black hex screw idea, but I have to admit that the outside window is one of the

few things I don't appreciate about Silverstone's TJ11. IMHO things look cleaner when the

plexi is on the inside of the panel (with the cleanest version being a window that's completely

flush with the panel, but I don't think that's really realistic without a proper router).

Of course this is just a matter of taste. I'd say do it the way you like it best. Maybe

you can even try it out both ways and see which one you like better?

EDIT: I like the shape though :)

I agree with alpenwasser. Best kind of windowed side panel is just like Fractal Design does them - nice shape, unveiling only what's important, and plexi flush with the panel, without visible mounting.

Your shape idea is not really my taste, and as you got really nothing to hide, I would go with something like in G5ive.
