Can this run Windows 8?

Sorry, I am a newbie with computers. My soon to be built pc will have 8 gigs of RAM and I do not know if there is any Windows 8 type that can support 8 gigs of ram? Thanks.

windows 8 64 bit supports like 128gb of ram or something and there is no minimum

Yes, the 64 bit variant. Make sure you get that one.

we run our windows tablets with a slim verson of windows 8  at work and they only have 256MB of ram and I hate them lol but they work 

That's a SLIM version, that's also on an x86 platform with a lot of crap cut out.

I run windows 8 jsut fine on less hardware specs than that so you should be just fine.
