There was a game that had a non working shortcut so i open the file and made it open the game but but it all went paaaint

right click one of these shortcuts, open with.. choose default program and find the... shortcut handler.. ?? lol

Tey don't mean you should literally use .xyz. You should replace it with whichever extension you bound to the wrong program. In your case, .exe.

 

I mean come on it's written right there.

 

 

Example:

 

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ FileExts \ .xyz \ UserChoice

 

Where .xyz is the file extension for which you want to undo the Open With action.

Install Tune up Utilites , there's a option to fix all icons/window icons not displaying properly , it will pretty much fix everything

Open registry editor and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.lnk

Delete the folder UserChoice and restart.

Alternative option, download the lnk reg fix below, run it and restart.
