How to tell if the Galaxy Note 4 is a fake?

KayTees
Go to solution Solved by Aniallation,

So I just got a hold of maybe a dozen people who are willing to trade their Galaxy Note 4 32GB for my iPhone 6 64GB any color. When I meet up with them to check out the Note 4, what are some more technical ways of telling if the phone is fake/clone? There's been a circulation of Galaxy Note 4 clones that have flooded into Vancouver and many people who have been victims said the clone is nearly identical and performs like the real deal.

As far as I can tell the big difference is that many fakes will not display the "Galaxy Note 4" splash screen on boot, rather a custom logo and boot animation.

That's not what we're here for.

Specs, camera, etc

Pretty much all the clones are using MT6582 or MT6592 (quad/octa core Cortex A7), which are similar in performance to Snapdragon 400.

Camera, forget it, most clone cameras are trash

A fake clone would most certainly attempt to show the same specs.

If people knew of a good way to tell apart the fakes, they would've made a video of it, dontcha think?

Yes. Now don't be an ass and link to a search page. Link to a video which you watched, and can confirm it is a good video for giving the OP the information they need.

It depends how good the fakes are, some are pretty easy to spot, incorrect software, bad build quality and cameras etc

Some will be quite difficult

If you are worried why not sell the iPhone instead and buy a note 4... you can probably sell the 6 for a decent price in good condition!!!!

Well I ran out of silver plates. I think he got his answer anyway.

posting search results and being like "googling this wasn't hard" is against CoC

Well it was the best answer I could come up with.

Its not necessarily that it was the wrong answer, its how it was presented

You could have said "I found this search page full of useful information for you, it might help here is a link, sorry not watched all of it but it seemed good - insert link"

and not just  say "well you are dumb - insert link"

basically LMGTFY links are not allowed, and it just comes across as rude (just saying)

Also, some people may have personal input into fakes, and may wish to write a paragraph or know a suitable video or website explaining the differences in depth...

Poor 6 :(

Just an update, went to the Fido store, tried to get the 80$ max plan just to get the iPhone 6. Well wat do I know, started to talked to the sales lady as she was good look'in and splurged that the motive behind getting the i6 was to trade it for a Note 4. Instead she told me I could get the Note 4 instead even though they don't carry it, (she went across to a Rogers store and gave me a Rogers Note 4) and I could actually pick a cheaper plan ranging from 45$ to 70$, on the side the phone would cost me 499, $560 with tax. She saved me alot of troubles. God bless her :D
