Witcher in first person anyone?

I still don't get it why "mature contents" are a bigger deal in video games than in tv's or movies...

 

It has to do with the general psychological development of children, I would assume. Children = below age of 18.

We live in a society where a 12 year old has the freedom to watch a show like Breaking Bad (a very disturbing show at a lot of corners) but same 12 year old playing a game that depicts the same vile behaviours? SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!

I love it when parents will complain that their child plays GTA.

 

Who bought them the damn game or even allowed it in the house to begin with?

Media still needs a rating, regardless of that. It's more of a "warning" not a "You can't show this to your child".

I don't think seeing some sex is any worse than seeing someone get murdered. I am not a psychologist though so maybe I am completely wrong and a ~15 year old can handle the murder much better.

I think this generation has forgotten that. Sure, the access to technology has changed how kids interact and develop in their youth, but it all comes down to their parents. 

My brother kept screwing around and getting into trouble. Guess what happened? Netflix, gone. Computer use, gone. Cell phone, gone. HE got the harsh end of the stick and its been a few months and he's learned to adapt and live without these freedoms, because he made mistakes and has to earn them back. 

Lots of people don't raise their kids like that anymore, it has to be said. Kids don't understand their actions will always have consequences.

Exactly. The kid couldn't buy GTA on his own, could he? Just like I couldn't buy Gears of War, Halo or really anything that I enjoyed playing. My dad never understood why I wanted "violent" games but he kinda clued in that me playing violent games was hardly different from the both of us watching Die Hard or another violent movie. 

Its all about educating your kids in right and wrong behaviours and explaining what is acceptable and what isn't. I don't need some politically correct group of people telling me what kind of content I (or my future kids) can consume. If I can't educate and control my kids in even that, then I'm one shitty fucking parent indeed.

How else is someone going to earn a WAN Show shoutout if they don't sensationalize things? I read this story yesterday and a Witcher dev clarified that it wasn't 16 hours of sex scenes, just 16 hours of studio work to get whatever they needed for the game. 

But saying "Witcher 3 had 16 hours of studio work to get a few minutes worth of motion capture for sex scenes" doesn't sound as good to the hormonally enraged teenagers as "Witcher 3 has 16 hours of sex".

 

Kids please, its called www.pornhub.com if you really need 16 hours of sexual content.

More like it was "16 hours of work to make the game's mature scenes".

My experience with Mass Effect completely destroys this statement. I cared about my entire crew without the need of being given the option of jumping in bed with them.

 

coming from the witcher 2 i think i trust CDPR to only do things for a reason

I never really cared about that in the Witcher games. It would be cool if I could not download those parts to save some space on my SSD.
