Does anybody have insanely unbalanced build?

I see people on this forum with i7s and GTX 750Tis/760s/R9 270s, and all I can think is, I hope you didn't buy that rig with gaming in mind. At least not their #1 priority.

A friend of mine has an i7 and games on igpu.

He calls his build a "gaming rig"

It's sad to see so many prebuild gaming pcs designed that way. I would rather go with a high end GPU and a mid-tier cpu... In my opinion a i3 works fine with everything up to a 960 or R9 285.

And a 4690 doesn't bottleneck most of the game out there - Even with a high end gpu. I think people only buy the i7, because they don't mind 100 bucks more if they spend 500+ on a gpu.

My unbalanced rig (secondary gaming-rig/htpc):

Core 2 quad Q8200 with GTX750Ti. In some games (like Watch_Dogs) the CPU limits the performance to around 12Fps. But in some more GPU-bound games it performs quite well.

Ryzen 5 5600, 32GB DDR4, GTX 3070Ti, Acer Predator x34

InWin 901

I had a Celeron G540 with a 780 at one point (I called it the Bottleneck :D)...  and 16GB Corsair Vengence RAM, and an OCZ Vector SSD.  I was waiting for Haswell to be released so I just bought a cheap cpu/mobo combo to hold me over.  For normal stuff it actually did pretty good, surprisingly snappy.  For gaming, I only played some older titles on it, so not too bad.  But it did have some pretty low fps drops sometimes...

Edit:

Corrected the ram I had in it.

I have my Core 2 Duo E8500 (stock) with my GTX 970 and 1 GB of RAM (all other sticks got fried when the PSU blew).

Dude plz benchmarkerinos.

If you can even open a game because of ram :/

I can't, it was running windows 10 tech preview when the PSU blew, and being 64bit, I was barely able to get it to run under 1GB.

no, I didn't run any gaming benchmarks on it

here's a pic of it with a 680 (got that cause I didn't think the 780 was gonna come out as soon as it did)

Sorry, I didn't word that too well, but it was a free upgrade. Either way, Windows 7 users now have a viable upgrade path to a decent OS (Windows 8.1 was not a true upgrade path for non touchscreen computers).

I suppose some will argue mine is imbalanced.

I wouldn't call my sister's build imbalanced per se, but she's running a locked i5 on what would otherwise be a very good overclocking set up.
