R9 270x VS GTX 960

Hello,

Greetings,

I recently saw MR.techtips's review of the 960 and thought, should I get it?It would overclock a million times better than my shitty card but the stock performance would be pretty same right?Or maybe the R9 270x will beat it?

Thank you.

270x is a bit worse I believe, but the 280(x) is the better buy due to having 50% more vram and flat out more powerful.

If you already have a 270x don't bother 'upgrading' to a 960.

960 beats the 270x/ 270, but looses too the 280.

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

The 960 is meh. it's not even a jump above a 760 and AMD offers better value for the $200 price point. R9 280 has more Vram and has higher performance and is cheaper in Canada.

Don't ever use ubisoft games' benchmarks.

They only tell you which card ubisoft does not like.(all of them)

Don't pay attention to the online reviews. Tech sites always kiss Nvidias ass in order to ingratiate themselves with Nvidia fanboys. Look at benchmaks from trusted sources. The 960 is a bad joke. Even overclocked 960s are getting ass raped by stock 280s and 280xs which cost less, and the 2 gb of memory and 128 bit bus means it has no where to go but down. Its virtually obsolete at launch. If it cost 125-150 USD id consider it, at anything more than that its a waste of money.

Im all for nvidia when they make compelling products ,when their latest card loses to a 7950 equivalent that is like almost 3 years old now its hard not to blame them for itr.

as soon as i saw 128 bit bus i laughed , a lot .

the GTX 960 is in no way a worthy upgrade to your R9 270X man...not even close these cards are in the same league literaly it,s a complete side grade...stick with what you have and if you really need more performance look at the R9 290 or R9 290X GPU's those ship with 4GB of VRAM and are a MASSIVE upgrade to your R9 270X:

This is what a worthy upgrade looks like:

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1056?vs=1043

see that? nearly double the performance and double the VRAM...this is worth your time and money.

the 960 is the successor to the GTX 750ti...not the GTX 760...the new nvidia GPU should have been called the GTX 950ti...and even then it should be 189$ and come with 3GB of VRAM.

This one is worse; clearly it's using ultra textures that shits on everything with 2gb of vram.

It's just showing reality which is that 2GB Vram is pointless.

it sure is...this is a good reality check i guess...i mean come on most games that have come out in 2014 cap out my 3GB card at 1080p at the settings the 780 can render above 60FPS...2GB is really not enough...i'd give 50$ right now to add another GB of VRAM to my 780...

I have much anger towards nvidia for breaking out cards since the GTX 680 with low Vram counts. AMD has been pretty decent with giving decent amounts of Vram less perhaps the R9 285 which is another fat fail IMHO. 680 SLI should still be a top dog but the fact is that 2GB of Vram destroyed the the GTX 680 longevity.

this is correct...the 680 and 770 should be 3GB cards, the 780 and 780ti should have been 4GB and the newer GTX970 and GTX980 should be 6GB cards.

nvidia is indeed cheap and overpriced (to follow up on our previous discussion, as you can see i don't praise nvidia where they don't deserve it i'm very partial about this.)

well...i'm not even sure if it would have been that much better, realisticaly this card isnt even up to the task of running settings at which you,d be required to have more VRAM...well okay yes now that i type this defenetly it could use 3GB but the GPU is also way too weak for the price tag man.
