To SLI or Not

Go to solution Solved by MoDtEc,

Not too sure about monitors, don't know much about resolutions nor pixel density, no clue what IPS is nor what the Hz means, the one I'm using atm uses 60Hz according to the menu.

pixel density: pixels per inch

example:

1080p do look really sharp at 17", quite mushy at 27"

because you got a much bigger screen with the same ammount of pixels

display panel technology:

tn: most common, able to go up to 144hz, can display stereoscopic 3d, not expensive, low reaction time (~1ms these days)

ips, ah-ips: 60hz only(until now), more colours and more colour accuracy than any tn panel can accieve(in most cases), more $ nedded to buy them, around 5-7ms reaction time

pls: same as ips but not as colourful, less reaction time

look here for more info:

i'd recommend posting a thread in the display-section and ask them for a monitor that suits your budget and rig ;)

So after coming home from work, I found a brand new sealed EVGA GTX 970, identical to the one I'm using ATM on my desk. 12-Year old brother bought it as a way of saying thanks for giving him a rig free of charge. I was planning to SLI anyways but now that I have the card, I'm thinking, should I actually SLI? My main reason to even SLI in the first place was #1, I like to waste money on PC Parts, #2, Tell people your running 2 GPUs, 3#, performance increase, my main concern is, I'm currently gaming on a Samsung S20D300 and also running another 17 inch POS Acer monitor, I mainly play CS:GO, League of Legends most of the time since GTA 5 isn't out yet. Will I even use both 970s to it's advantage?

Maybe kinda off topic but I don't know much about monitors, I was impulsive when I got the Samsung one, but sometimes when I go to NCIX to grab parts, I'm looking at the Razer Blade and the screen just looks so damn good and clear. Any idea if any of those will look like the screen of the Razer Blade?

I'm in it for the same reasons that you are. That's why I upgraded from a 4790K with two 780's to a 5820K with two 970's :D. If you want to, why the hell not? :P

My arsenal: i7-9700k Gaming Rig, an iPhone, and Stupidity.

It's a free card, might as well shove it in there and get some MAONSTAR FPS BOOOOSTS!!

Follow the topics you create using the "Follow" button in the top right corner!

One day I will have my GTX 970. One day. PC specs are at my profile.

Not sure how to check what part works with what? Check out my compatibility guide!

Yep bragging rights for sure, I mean, how great is that? Meet someone irl, they ask u what games I play, go completely off topic and tell em, i5 4690K overclocked to 5GHz and GTX 970 Superclocked in SLI, almost 500$ just to say you have a SLI config is fukin awesome. Not thinking of selling it though as he got it today, it really is a waste if the cards are being bottlenecked by my monitor and if there won't be that huge of a performance difference unless I throw another fuckton of money.

it got a 1080p 17" screen which means that any 21,24,27" display with the same resulution will never look as sharp, wre talking pixel density here
