Well, just got home after a 14-hour work day, so I'm too lazy to make/put up a video. On my Chroma, I'm not getting any noticeable flex or angular movement, like in the image you posted of pressing off-center on the Page Down button. However, when they key is pressed down all the way, I am able to wiggle a bit slightly, but not as much as seen in the gif in the OP.

Still not regretting my purchase though, especially since Corsair said they weren't going to produce any RGB K70's with Cherry MX Blues.

which is super gay. I mean, between browns and blues, I always pick blue. And my reds preference is mainly for gaming.

i want to see proof that it is "rare", or that there even is inconsistency.

Oh I bet your rubberdome can do totally different things.

anandtech:

"it is true that the tolerance of the keys on the sample that we received was minimal; all typical keys would actuate between 1.89mm and 1.92mm from their start point, which is either an astonishing display of quality control or a remarkable stroke of luck."

"We have to stress that Razer's switches are not bad or in any way inferior to their original counterparts, the Blue and Brown designs that they were derived from."

anandtech:

I've never tried kailh switches. I hear they are good, but have consistency issues. I promise I will have videos of the razer switches on this thing for the review.

One shift key has a nice click, one is noticeably different. Almost linear. The "m5" key has a much nicer clock than the rest of the keyboard. Much stiffer. The "m4" key above it is so different I would thing it's a different switch

I was actually ready to give razer a bit of a pass on this. I knew kailh switches also experienced these problems. I didn't expect them to have the same low yield due to quality control that cherry does.

I was thrown off by the flex, I did not expect that.

Actually, once you get to typing on it, you don't notice the inconsistency quite so much, the flex is a non issue for typing, it just makes you worry about the quality of the product you bought. But some of the are SO far off you can't help be disappointed . I went to best buy and tried a few more keyboards and found the same thing.

I really wish razer could step it up, release a "Razer Green 2.0" and claim to make design improvements for "80 Million Presses" or whatever bullshit number they could come up with (the BS accusations extends to cherry a bit)

And the only change I want them to make is better grouping, and better plastic. I know the cost would be slightly higher and the yield would be significantly lower. Half the reason Razer likely went with their own switches was so they could be in control of their whole supply chain there, cherry switches can be scarce.

BUT it would be worth it. In my opinion. Hell, I don't even care if they DON'T reject switches that don't fit withing a certian range, but rather group similar ones together as long as they still have a good click. It doesn't matter if the keyboards are slightly differnt from each other, what matters is that all of the keys on the keyboard have the same feel.

The plastic they use, if that's the problem causing these switches to flex, I don't feel that's an intentional money saving action or anything. (side note, I noticed all of the switches have a noticeable dimple from the injection mold. )

I fell they just made the wrong plastic compound for the job. Needs some tweaking.

I can't imagine it's not that though. Since Cherry's patent ran out, I wouldn't think they did the design wrong or anything.

What I'm saying is if they make a "2.0" branded switch, with "improved durability" where they group them better and use a different plastic, I think they have a winner on their hands with the correct marketing.

The advantage of Razer green switches is the are one of a kind- there are no other switches like it. There are Cherry MX Greens, which are heavier than Blues, but no one beside razer, including other imitation switches, has a softer version of blues.

The same goes for the oranges I believe, though I've never actually used them.

you really must have a bad keyboard there ...

Both my shifts are exactly the same.

is that the standard BW or the ultimate?

At this is why I say, for the price, you can get a far better keyboard.

Standard, though the ones I tried at BB were ultimates and chromas.

It's not that the shift if specfically always bad, it's a sign of the inconsistancy. I would call that a bad switch. Most of the switches on the keyboard are good, but a lot of them feel really different. But the thing is, I also tired a couple keyboards that also seems to have a "bad" switch or two.  See my post above, I don't think they need to get rid of most of these switches, but rather gorup them better.

Well think about it-

It's probably cheaper, they have more control, they can make their own unique switch, which they did, and they try to set them selves apart from the other mechanical keyboards on the market by being the only one with these "gamer optimized" softer switches.

And that would be part of it. They were kinda screwed by Cherry. They have full control over their own process now.

really? One guy smacking his keyboard is enough to justify that?

No the monoprice keyboard is. That thing is solid. I've used one, and I intend to get one for myself. The real blue siwtches are a plus, and it works great. The only thing missing is some of the feature set for the BW

Of course, I would be OK with razer raising prices if they could make those improvements to the switch build and the grouping. It would be a win then.

well ... strange ... I really can't feel the inconsistency on mine, neither could any of the reviewers (but of course they all got preselected once from razer)

Actually, I know of more than just one person who has a Razer keyboard. After using one myself, an old Blackwidow 2013 with the Cherry Blue switches (Testing my boyfriend's keyboard), then going back to my, at the time, Ducky Shine 3, there was a huge quality shift from one to the other. For roughly the same price here in the UK, the Razer keyboard had far more flex in the deck, each press of a switch sounded a lot more tinny, more so when the key was bottomed out. I have done the same comparison with my Filco and his Razer keyboard and I came to the same conclusion. For the money, £135 for the Razer Blackwidow and £126 for the Filco Majestouch Ninja, I can not see any point in buying the Razer, if all you want is a solid, high quality keyboard. Though, even then, I don't see any point if you're wanting the back lighting either, when for £136 you can get the Ducky Shine 3 with any a wider range of back light colour and switch options.

EDIT: This further begs the question of why they are still charging the same price for the newest keyboard when it's got cheaper and arguably worse switches? With the price that TT Esports can bring a keyboard out at with the same switches, just not "Designed by Razer", it just seems stupid to spend so much on the Razer Blackwidow.

It's also possible it got worse over time.

You have to be really acute and particular to notice the difference when typing, but if you go press each key individually, you'll hear it.

I didn't come into buying it intended to be disappointed, and originally I was convinced I had a bad one. I actually really wanted one (the chroma, but they wrre out of stock in the second sale last nigh -.-) for my fiend, and I liked the idea of the softer version blues.

I've not had very much experience with the keyboards, but the mice...wow

For years every mouse I've ever known anyone to buy seems to break aside from the old deathadder. Hell, I swapped in a naga molten  few times myself that the lazer died on, eventually out of warrenty.

I actually really like using some of the razer mice, and some of them have pretty cool features. I always though of it like this:

It's ok to buy razer mice, just make sure to buy an extended warranty. If you like it, buy it! Just be aware that you should spend a few bucks on a newegg or best buy warranty or something like that

As far as I know, the naga seems to be one of the first options for an MMO mouse. I ended up getting a Logitech g600 recently and i like it much better for the keypad as it's much easier to feel where my thumb is at. The concept is wonderful for content creation. It's a photoshop must. I used to use the motel for game editors.

Yah I just flexed the deck on mine and for a plastic based board it's really solid. I personally don't think board flex affects the typing experience and quality, so if it did flex I wouldn't really care, but take it from me @SeriouslyMikey, the guy who's been complaining about the quality, the deck, the whole housing actually, seems to be pretty solid. It has a nice matte texture too, but you really don't place your hand  s on it so it doesn't matter.

It's actually a pretty heavy keyboard.

I had a Razer Deathadder when I first properly got into PC gaming. The mouse itself was comfortable and ergonomic, but it died 3 months later. Though, with mine it was the cord, it just shredded itself and soon it just gave in and wouldn't connect again to my PC. However, I have never had much luck with mice, if I am honest. I go through a new one every few months, my Zowie packed in after only 3 months and the ones before that after the same amount of time. So far, my Logitech G402 has lasted 5, it's living on borrowed time, I think.
