This is why American cars don't evolve while the rest of the world is advancing.

Sure, aside from European supercars, a lot of drag racers and racers in general put chevy LS motors in their cars. Hell a lot of guys with mustangs drop LS motors in their car.

The difference is the GT is an American car, known for its big v8s. The GTR is an import, mostly small v6s and 4 bangers, with an occasional rotary engine.

Well, americans will have to get used to it. V8s no longer deliver enough power compared to downsized turbo engines to excuse their weight, size and poor efficiency. The industry is aware of that and are starting to follow in europe's tracks. We'll all miss the V8, but all good things come to an end and progress is a good thing.

I think I like my Coyote with a Paxton 2200L over a V6 with a small dinky turbos.

You should ditch your supercharger too then.

This is why Mustangs only just got independent rear suspension. So opposed to change and advancement....

Not saying kill out the v8 but don't blindly shoot down everything else.

Im gonna have to disagree. If they were to call it anything other than the GT, I would be with you. But the fact that they are going to call it the GT means that they should keep a certain amount of that heritage. The Corvette falls under this as well IMHO.

It looks like a Lamborghini Aventidor, Mclaren Mp4-12c, and the new Mustang had a baby. The car doesn't deserve to ware the GT logo

Why cant ford just create a new car that will compete with the Corvette and the Viper

I don't mind the look of the car but its time that they start thinking of other names besides GT.

True, but to me, it'll still just be a v6 mustang. Lol I guess I'm old school, "muscle cars" need v8s. Mustang, Camaro, Firebird (Trans Am), Corvette, all need a v8.

What?

You asked why ford doesn't make a car to compete with the mustang and the viper...

I pointed out that they make the mustang. The implied question would be, "Why would they make another car to steal sales that they are already getting?"

So you like big V8 cars that the engineers cant get a lot of horse power out of?

A family friend of mine owns one of the 5 or 6 electric Ford Pinto's ever made, its worth an absolute mint (solid six figures). Just because it is worth money does not mean it was a good idea.

A well handling 300hp 400lb/tq car that gets 30mpg starting at 25 grand? yeah, sounds horrible to me.

twin turbo will let them get way more power, and keep within the fuel consumption laws, and allow them to compete in more races.

edit:

Your right. Even worse.

please refer to this post. yes I like big engines. My dads 2012 cs/gt converitble 5.0 mustang is a whole lot more fun then my 2.0 escort. but my escort is front wheel drive, and about 1/3 as powerful as the new ecoboost when its tuned.

*Ford GT "Ecoboost"

No, it has a trash V6.

Murican LaFerrari with V6 EcoBoost Enzine!

This is the real Ford GT

"make a 1 cilinder feel like a V12 quad turbo"

^^^^This.

I really have to disagree with you guys. I'm kind of tired of this "the old thing is always better, the new thing sucks, I don't like change"-bullshit, people need to accept progress, especially americans. More cylinders don't make a better engine and the V8 can no longer keep up with modern turbocharged engines in terms of weight and efficiency. This V6 puts out at least 650hp at the crank, possibly up to 700 (we don't know yet), and torque in excess of 500lb-ft. That's some serious power. In order to keep up with that, you'd need a supercharged V8. Equals 200lbs more weight, less efficiency and a much larger engine. Did I mention this V6 also happens to sound awesome?

This is a supercar designed to light a fire under Ferrari's ass, not a car you'd show off at the drag strip. That's why Ford is trying to be innovative instead of following the american tradition of presenting brand new cars with a fuel injected 80 year old engine. If they hadn't made the mistake of giving it the "ecoboost" name, implying that it is somehow "green", most of you wouldn't be hating. Its not like we haven't had incredibly good sportscars with twin-turbo V6s before *cough*GTR*cough*.

Maybe if more americans knew that the V8 is actually a french invention, they'd stop clinging on to it so hard.

Grand Touring, The car hardly looks like the original. and a 3.5 Liter Eco boost v6 with est 600BHP.

I don't care what the care is going to be used for I am just stick of them reusing the same name over and over again.

It's like calling every mid engined Ferrari the Ferrari F40

One of the only company's that does that and makes it work is Porsche With the 911 but with that car they don't do a complete redesign every 5 years.
