Don't buy a 3570k - if your going the i5 route go Haswell/refresh so a 4690k.

Wait, those are two different socket CPU's though, if you were looking at an i5 3570k does that mean you have an 1155 board? To get a 4790k you would also have to upgrade to an 1150 board.

Desktop: i9 11900k, 32GB DDR4, 4060 Ti 8GB 🙂

If you stream go for a 4790K.

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

Since you dont have an nvidia GPU with shadowplay, you should get a i7 because all that processing will be on your CPU.

honestly i found a random i5 cpu so maybe recommend me a i5 then compare it to the i7

Not so simple, the main argument for one or the other will still be there regardless of generation. The i7 and the i5 both consistently grow in over all performance every release - one will not catch up to the other in terms of performance.

Only get the i5 is you are on a tight budget. But if you can afford then go for it (i7). The extra horsepower might be useful just in case you need it.

Get the i5 and put that $60 towards a game or something more useful.

You won't notice a huge benefit, especially for 720p 60FPS.

a game? useful? OMG...this i7 CPU will last him 3, maybe 5 years...a game will last him only a couple hours!!!

people are getting rediculous about this!

OP if you can afford the i7 then by all means GO FOR IT you'll thank yourself down the road that's a given.

The i5 will last him just as long.

Based on what he says he wants to do, what does the i7 offer him over the i5?  What does that extra $60 get him in terms of performance?

There's no reason to spend it on the more expensive processor when it isn't going to improve his experience.

the i7 already play some games noticeably better than an i5 when paired with an higher end GPU...and many games use more than 4 threads right now and as they will get more CPU intensive the i7 will give better performance in the long run that's a given cause it already does...it's also better at multi-tasking and you would not believe me that when i turn HT off my PC is much less responsive and everything even in windows take a little extra second on the click?

Also what if he want to get to streaming content or even render or transcode videos for example?

at least: okay if he want the i5 no problem but do not waste that 60$ on a GAME what the hell...at least say a bigger SSD...or a better GPU...something that is worth it! :P

EDIT: WOW! right there in the first line the OP is saying ''Honestly the only thing i am going to do with this computer is gaming and 1080p when live streaming content to twitch at around 60fps at 720p'' that right there is a good indicator that this user will outgrow a core i5 rather quickly.

Ever heard of the placebo effect?  Everyone feels like the shiny new thing is snappier, but if we did the pepsi challenge you wouldn't notice a difference.  (Windows is HT aware, but that won't make a huge difference.)

You could stream 720p@60 FPS on a toaster without issue.  The most demanding part of streaming is the encoding, and the lower resolution video file will naturally have a lower CPU overhead.  Every benchmark I've seen has shown the i5 to be completely competent at holding its own while streaming.  He'd only run into issues if he cranked the bitrate up excessively like a lot of novice streamers do.

Obviously it's up to OP, but I'm not going to tell him the i5 won't do when it will do just fine for what he says he wants to do.

i wont either, but the question is ''how long does he want it to do just fine''

I5 4690k vs the i7 4790k

If you are arguing over i5 v i7 those are really the front runners for gaming. Anything over the 4 cores at this point would be unneeded for what you are doing. In all honesty, you don't really need the 4 extra threads on the i7 and not that many games are really using the hyperthreading to that degree as of yet. It is also not too clear if that many games will make use of it too soon anyways. If you have the cash to burn, the i7 is not that bad an investment, but for your needs, I honestly don't see the need to invest higher if you are just light gaming with 1080p as your goal.

The gpu budget can welcome the extra cash, or even a larger, or extra ssd, but it is always a hard choice. Just do what you feel like as both have a decent value in future proofing your pc.

Still new, but learning
