980Ti and a new TITAN

So the 380x will be stronger than a 980 or sli 970?

That would be nice to see, amd has not released a gpu in so long :P

I mean it was last year .. Kappa

They are waiting what AMD brings to the table and then react. The new Quadro is about the corner and that means the GM200 is already sampled. nVidia will wait how good AMD´s R9 300 series are going to be and then answer and price accordingly.

No they wont be. But if history is anything to go by they'll offer similar performance for 2/3s the cost.

doesn't matter as long as they're cheaper. But if those leaked 380X benchmarks turn out to be accurate, we can expect the 380X to beat the 980 by quite a significant percentage. The 390X will then most likely be a complete monster.

Apparently the top end card will be named R9 380X this time around and not 390X no idea why tho...

Really? That's the first time I'm hearing that, is there a source?

You see,

NVIDIA actually waits to see what there up against but AMD-

No they don't care as long as they can release it

Nvidia can charge a premium for having the best card out there, it's just milking the 980.

yeah, we'll see, I guess. It does say the 380X is the largest in the King of the Hill lineup, but I find it hard to believe that they'd do something that silly with their product naming... anyways, if the 380X turns out to really be a 300W card and doesn't beat the 980, then AMD is pretty much dead IMO. Unless it sells for $99 or something.

Good question, seems like AMD is one step ahead of NVidia in terms of manufacturing process, take a look at the 7970 vs 680.

Yeah , it's  just they can't keep up with Nvidias' power consumption\thermals.

There seems to be a lot of confusion going on about the next AMD and nVidia cards. As of right now we do not have all written in stone and facts. As a matter of fact most stuff is pure speculation.

But some things are confirmed like AMD's R9 380(X) will be in 28nm and nVidia's big Maxwell GM200 as well. It's likely that this will be the last duell in 28nm with highend cards. The process is refined enough that they can both risk big die sizes with new architectures. No one knows though when these cards will be released or what their initial pricing will be. I personally think nVidia will as always ask for their standard premium for a new flag ship card, but that remains to be seen.

Also confirmed is that AMD works on a 20nm architecture for a new GPU series and nVidia works together with TSMC on 16nm architecture (Pascal).

If we see all those new features like 2.5D or even 3D stacked HBM memory in the second generation remains to be seen. But I hope we will see those new cards soon as more and more 4K and highend 1440p gamer displays hit the market with getting better and better price tags. It is about time to make a leap forward in terms of GPUs, because the new games will also get more and more hardware hungry. Just look at the screenshots of GTA V I'm sure to see the game like that it takes at least 2 GPUs in SLI or CF to make that happen in 4K.
