any razer/corsair/turtle beach/gaming audio = not good

I'm far from an audiophile. I have no understanding of speakers except for the basics (subwoofer, woofer, tweeter).

My steelseries siberia V2 headset decided to crap out on me a month ago, so I've been using my monitor's built in audio (roll in the hate).

Yesterday I saw razer's 50% off sale and decided it was time to pick up a proper headset.

So my question: Is the razer Tiamat 7.1 whatever a good headset for 100$? (norm. 200$)

I had a friend with them, they broke right after warranty and the sound was quite meh... Get something like HyperX Clouds or Corsair V2100s...

well its razer, kraken 7.1 and it broke right after warranty just like all other razer products and sounded rubbish

corsair is good bro, at least the v2100 and the kingston hyperxs are good

Thanks! Looks like I'll buy a blackwidow chroma (for 85$ its a steal) and save later for a real headset (I've had my eye on the senheiser HD 550). Thanks for the help!

tek syndicate did a mini review on it at ces... it basically fixes everything wrong with the first

Kinda, I also wished they maybe did something to make the sound even better like different drivers or something (fk fake virtual 7.1), but yea. It is mostly minor things but the memory foam ear cushions. BTW, do you think they would allow us to get their improved cushions if we already have the Cloud 1? :]

maybe, i dont work for them so i have no idea :P and i think you can turn off 7.1 surround since its just a software thing

The surround sound is hardware based on the USB sound card. You can still use the sound card and just toggle it on and off.
