My download speed is better in game then out of game, normal?

the public

I'm not sure if this is normal or not, but i am downloading a game from origin, with a capacity of 22ish gb. So when im out of game/not doing anything besides the dowload, the download speed is averaging at about 500 kb/s, but when i'm in game the download speed is averaging at about 1 mb/s, this game being both online and off. At least that is what it seams like because every time i exit the game it is 1 mb/s, give or take. So, i thought games, well anything, would download faster if nothing else is happening in the computer, because it can focus on that one task. But apperently not, why is this and is my theory true?

Thanks for the help.

Yep gotta agree, tried to download Fifa demo, took for ever with wildly varying speeds, one minute it was slow, next minute full speed, next minute dial up. It seems to either be over-used download servers, or just, a naff download system.

I'm fairly certain that origin itself is the problem, but you might want to see if your system is giving network priority to your pc while playing the game.
