AMD FX 9590 or 8370 or 8370E

Go to solution Solved by i_build_nanosuits,

just gaming butt i rather have an i7

i understand that, i own one and i do sleep better at night now...btw i upgraded from an fx8350 as well.

the i7 will be a good cpu relevant to gaming for A WHILE so its a good investment imho.

i'm pretty much also only gaming with it as well...and its butter smooth and id LOVE to have a gtx980 :P

I'm am upgrading my AMD FX 6300 to a 8 core cpu. I dont know which one to get AMD FX 9590 or 8370 or 8370E.

PC: AMD FX 6300

       NVIDIA GTX 980

       ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX

I'd go 8370 personally.

if you are gaming no point in upgrading this you wont get any better performance with games...

for rendering and content creation it's another story...i recommend the FX-8320 and overclock it yourself instead of paying AMD big bucks to do it for you.

Why buy another FX again? You know you cannot upgrade from the FX-8xxx because that is already top of the line. And going from FX-8xxx to FX-9xxx is not worth it because it is the same CPU but at different speed.

What if you want to move to Intel? You have to buy a brand new motherboard and new drivers.

This is what I am experiencing right now. I have to buy a new motherboard of which I could have used the money for a new SSD or something.

I'd rather move to an i5/i7 now than another FX.

I know this isn't the FX-9590 or FX-6300 but you can see the FX is bottlenecking or very inconsistent in performance. It's not worth it especially with a high end GPU.

And also you will eventually move to Intel, the FX line is dead, it won't be updated.

I want to upgrade my CPU (see my sig) but why would I move from FX-8350 (or a FX-6300) to a FX-9590?

yes but he already owns this stuff i think...now he need an intel i5 cpu or i7 as soon as possible...unless he game at 1440p or greater resolution in which case the gpu will become the limiting factor again and in which case i suggest to stay put with the 6300 and overclock it balls to the wall.

yes it is, and its a beast gaming cpu that will age very well and be very future-proof imho.

if you could afford that along with a z97 motherboard that is affordable and has the features you need you'd be golden...if you are short on cash look at the i5-4690k its almost as good when it comes to gaming and it wont limit your gpu either.

i understand...but you have to understand that am3+ is old architecture now and those cpu's have never been good for running games and they are way underpowered for current high end gpu's.

re-read my previous post for recommendation...and no need for a flagship board with intel haswell cpu's you can go cheap on the motherboard so long as it has the features you need.
