Dxtory is pretty good in my experience, but if youre looking for a free solution OBS could be a good alternative.

I have used ShadowPlay, Fraps and some other software but I have no favorite.  I really haven't gotten into producing YouTube videos or gotten into streaming like I have wanted so I really have had no use for that sort of software.  I did have a website going for PhysX related gaming news and more but with a lousy internet connection and no quality webcam I can't produce the content I want to.

Too many ****ing games!  Back log 4 life! :S

Shadowplay.

Higher quality than anything else I used...

If you think that is low quality, you might want to check your settings to make sure you're recording at 50mbps 1080p and that you are recording to an SSD

I hardly produce YT videos (may sometime in the future) but if I want a higher quality product, than I use Afterburner, otherwise I'll use GVR because of it's low processor usage.

I use Recentral with a capture card simply because the quality is good enough.

I was using Shadow Play, but the visual quality for me is pretty low. In every ones opinion, what are your favorite or best recording software. Yes I have used Fraps, but it lacks features.

Not sure where to post this, so general until moved by a mod :).

I think only DXTory with Lagarith codec will produce higher image quality than Shadow Play but it's lossless so you need fast and high capacity HDD and also the performance hit is quite huge on some games.

Action! is pretty good too and also OBS but you need to play with the settings to get a good result.. some game requires different settings.

For a long time I was using Fraps, which worked well (so long as I had the space), but the files were a pain to work with due to their unbelievable bitrate. I have since moved to OBS, which I have found to be excellent. OBS doesn't have a recording overlay (as far as I can find), but it records really good quality files at a reasonable size.
DXTory is good from what I've heard, with lots of settings and a decent overlay. I've never used Action!, but I've heard good things. Bandicam might also be worth considering, it works pretty well with a good number of options. If you're considering buying any of these it's probably worth playing with OBS since it's free and could probably do what you want.

FRAPs for smaller videos, and Camtasia for larger ones.
